* Hearts *

Y'all are simply amazing. I so appreciate your travel tips... my momma is obsessing about them, especially the Pepto Bismol trick. I'm thinking I'll have to limit her to just four or ten boxes of the stuff. We're both of us printing off all of your ideas, so keep 'em coming. I don't mind a couple of reprints if it means more wisdom.

Now onto other news...

Guess what, y'all?

Can you guess?

TA! TA! TA! TA! TA! TA!

And not only do we have TA, y'all, we have TRAVEL DATES. (Methinks the agency kept things a little secretive until EVERYTHING got settled. But maybe I'm just paranoid. But probably not.) And that heart chain? That heart chain represents the number of days between now and our flight to Beijing. We leave June 8th and arrive home just in time for Mei Mei's first birthday. I can't believe I felt so absolutely stressed just 24 hours ago, fighting to trust in the Lord and ignore the despondency that wanted to grab at me. And now? Now I am absolutely floating.

It's sobering to remember that, as excited as we are, and as much as we continue to prepare for this, Mei Mei will be completely unprepared and most probably not at all excited. We pray that we'll remember to love her exactly where she is. Because that's what it's all about: loving her.

Unconditionally.

HOORAH!! Y'all are officially promoted from 'regular reads' to 'next batch of travelers'!! (Yeah - I sort my blog book marks - I'm a forensic guy, we're like that!!)

Which get's me to thinking about one other tech thing - power adapters!

Probably 99% of the stuff you will want to plug in is dual voltage (110 / 220) - stuff like power bricks for laptops, chargers for cameras / cell phones etc. But - 1) check them before you leave and be sure and 2) you will still need to adapt them from our US two blade to Asian 2 pin outlets. You can find them at most office supply stores, computer stores, and places like radio shack. But here's the big tip - buy a 6 plug power strip (US) and all you need to do is adapt that to any outlet in China and you now have 6 US style plugs!! Just make sure all your chargers etc can fit the strip and you are gold - oh - and you may need to adapt the three prong (US grounded) plug from the power strip to a two blade (US) to plut it into the Asian converter. Like yesterday - but a couple of these converters and if you don't open them you can return them when you are back. PUT ONE IN YOUR CARRY ON - just in case you need to charge something in an airport - once outside the US you'll need them!

Oh I'm excited for you guys!!

hugs - aus and co.

I am totally filing Aus's tip about the power strip and the adaptors for our next trip. Wow, I wish I had thought of that the first time :)

Congrats on TA and travel dates - it's so real and present now, isn't it?! Yay!

And my favorite tip that we got when packing and traveling? Blackberry Brandy. One or two small swigs at the very first tinge of tummy upset and it's MIRACULOUSLY gone. Really. It saved The Boss's tummy on more than one occasion on our 16 day trip. He kept forgetting about the fresh fruit, fresh veggie guidelines. Seriously, it's an amazing trick!

I am so happy for your family!

Maybe we will run into each other in China. My girls and I leave on June 11th for a family trip and will be in Beijing for a few days. It will be cool thinking of you meeting your new daughter when we are there too.
