Sunday Linkage
As always, I don't necessarily agree or disagree with these links, but I believe they are important to consider. For those of you new around here, I'm an adoptive momma. Each Sunday I try to post links relevant to the China-adoptive community. I read some of these linkage posts while nodding my head in agreement... others stretch my mind as I seek to understand. Always, always, I consider them.
How Does It Feel To Be a Birth Mom? -- first mother Jenna at The Chronicles of Munchkinland... responding to this question after seeing that someone found her blog by searching for that string
Names and Faces: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 -- adoptive momma (China) American Family... a must-read, on learning the names and seeing the faces of her daughter's first parents
Creating an Invisible Child -- adult adoptee (domestic, transracial) Kevin D. Hofmann at My Mind on Paper... exploring the complexities of raising both biological children and children adopted transracially
attach this -- adoptive momma (China) mama d at the life that is waiting for us... notes on attachment after attending a recent PACT spring training
She's a Broken Record: Why Talk About Adoption Loss Again and Again? -- adult adoptee (Korea) Melissa at Yoon's Blur... profoundly and succinctly answering this question that she hears again and again
what I want you to know: adoption and assumptions -- guest blogger and adoptive momma (Ethiopia) Kathryn at Rage Against the Minivan... an adoptive mom shares her thoughts and experiences with others who are outside of the adoption community
Subject or Object -- adult adoptee (Korea) and licensed social worker JaeRan Kim... discussing how, in some areas of the “helping professions,” there is a lot of emphasis on practitioner insider knowledge, but not when it comes to adoptees or first parents
On Adoption and Belonging -- daughter of an adoptee (domestic, closed) Katydid at The Anywhere But Here Girl... on the impact of adoption on future generations [HAT TIP to Peach at Neither Here Nor There]
Be Present -- adoptive momma (China and Guatemala) Judy at The International Mom Blog... on the best gift we can give our children when they hurt
Don't Mess With My Family -- adoptive momma (domestic, open, transracial) karmavore at See Theo Run... thoughts after a recent intrusive encounter with a stranger
Still work to be done -- adult adoptee (Korea) Soo at Chopsticks Not Included... on two recent incidents of racism (one national news and the other relayed to her by a friend)
Parental Rights, Human Rights and Foster Care -- foster care alum Campbell B at Percolated Paradox... on abuse, foster care and adoption, through the eyes of a former foster kid
