I Didn't Even Know We Are Next

Thanks, y'all, for the emails asking if I was dead or alive. I'm alive *blush,* just running around like a chicken with my head cut-off. I'm not sorry about stepping away from the blog for a bit, but I am sorry for causing some of y'all concern.

I was off-line all this week, so there will be no Sunday Linkage tomorrow. It wasn't selfishness or anything. Because not only did I Completely Fail to read blogs, I didn't even check email until Friday afternoon. Which means I didn't learn that we are next! Next! NEXT! until I read an email from Rhonda at 3:30 Friday afternoon. Talk about being out of the loop!

We are NEXT and I didn't even know it!

(But who knew referrals would come out after less than three weeks of waiting?!?)

Since I've failed to do Sunday Linkage two weeks in a row, I thought I'd ask y'all to offer up your favorite posts of the week. Help me catch up... any favorites written in the past seven days?

(And I can't wait to get back to blogging next week to share with y'all all that Tonggu House is doing to prepare for our much anticipated second adoption.)

So excited for you! We've been a little busy around here too. 2 1/2 weeks ago two little girls arrived in our home! One is 13 months and free for adoption-we are pretty sure we'll get to adopt her. The other is 5 years old with a complicated case, so we don't know what will happen with yet. More on my blog.

Wow! Next?
That must be so exciting!

Yay next!

I think I thought you already had a referral for some reason. SN referrals are done very differently. There is no 'next'. You get your call seemingly at random.

I wasn't going to offer you a link from my blog, but nobody else has given you any yet, so here goes:

It's either that or the random cat photo.

It's been a slow week for blogs. Nobody's been posting much of anything.

I stand corrected! KJ has been posting a lot. Here, take a look.

Congratulations on being NEXT! I can't wait to follow along on your adoption trip! You are blogging it, right?

If we are allowed to pimp out our own blogs, I have two posts from the past two weeks I would like more China adoptive parents to read. I think there is some overlap in our readership, but I know you have a much broader reach in your audience.

One is about searching for birth families in China: http://american-family.org/2011/02/22/how-to-search-for-birthparents-in-china/

The other is about an experience that helped me understand more about abandonment and lack of community/individual concern about family-less children: http://american-family.org/2011/02/14/culture-shock/

What? You didn't even know you were next? That's too funny! :) I'm just glad you're back AND that everything is okay! Better than okay. The next batch of referrals is going to include YOUR little girl?!? Now THAT is something that will make me go back to RQ (you know how I feel about her!) and check every day!! :)

As for linkage, I wrote a post this past week about perfectionism in adoptive parenting called Living Up to the Homestudy After Adoption. It's at

I can't believe how little I know about IA from countries other than Ethiopia. Still, even I can figure out that "NEXT" is a good thing. Yipee.

I am so, so happy for you, and a little excited for me!

I liked this link this week. http://adoptionparadox.wordpress.com/2011/02/25/not-one-adoptees-experience-is-more-right-or-wrong-than-anothers/
I went looking on my own since there will definitely be more Sundays in the next few months or longer that there is no Sunday Linkage. :) So thrilled for your family.

HOORAH - can't wait to see what happens!

and as for being absent - one of the true joys of blogging is that you can do it or not....except for your loyal readers....who check your blog dang near every day....and who are left with nothing except worry and prayer when you go absent without warning....you don't write....you don't call....I worry SOOOO MUCH (sorry - slipped out of character there...) ;)

Glad that things are good - and living life is an acceptable excuse for being absent!

hugs - aus and co.

Perhaps you were taken away this week so that you wouldn't obsess over when your referral would come; even if it was just one week. Oh I can hardly wait for your glorious day to come - when YOU get to see your new little one's face for the first time:)

So very happy for you TM!!!

As far as posts this week, I would say that this has kept me thinking ALL week. http://american-family.org/2011/02/14/culture-shock/

Very exciting! I wondered if you got your referral last week. Lots of love to you and your family.

Next? You mean next in line for a referral? Or what? Oh I'm so excited for you!!!! :) :) :)

and I never worry when people don't post. Maybe I should. But I know that I sometimes go offline for a week or two, when real life gets in the way.

That word has never sounded sweeter! I'm so excited for your family! Easter will be even sweeter this year!

BooooYAH! I didn't forget . . . But I've totally been out of the loop of reading and even posting. This winter will go down in infamy as the most irregular, erratic, unpleasant and out-of-order winter EVAH. Irregular routines really mess with my peace of mind and my activity levels. Ugh.

But I didn't forget. I pop by a couple times a week just to check in. And I'm seeing some green sprouts and am coming out of my self-induced exile. Now if only the schools could stay in session one or two weeks of Monday through Friday in a row. That would help. :)

I didn't say much on Kiy's wall...and I still don't know what to say. Except CONGRATULATIONS. If you see a call coming in from a (425) number that you don't recognize...don't answer it. It will be me...leaving a long, non-sensical, and mostly squealing message about how happy I am for you. ;-)

Any idea what the time line is from here?
