Giveaway: Travel Website

When the husband and I traveled to China to adopt the Tongginator, we created a family website through our Comcast internet package. We posted brief descriptions of our days and of course the all important photos so that our family and friends back home could follow our journey. It truly wasn't anything to write home about. (Heh. Get it?) Not only do I wince at our ignorance back then, I also cringe at some of the photos: like the one where my hair looks like Cousin It or the photo of me walking along the Great Wall sporting a gigantic wedgie.

(Did I seriously just admit to that? Oh, my lands.)

This next time around, I do plan to blog our trip, but the whole anonymous thing really puts a crimp in some of my plans. I mean, of course I want Y'ALL to hear the good, the bad and the ugly about our trip, but I must confess that I want all of the neighbors and the Tongginator's teacher and people from church and distant cousins to only hear the sweetness and light. (Cue adoption angels singing while butterflies flit among the rainbows.) I mean, I don't want to reinforce adoption stereotypes (adoption is easy! there is no grief! the Tongginator and her mei mei will experience little to no sibling rivalry!), but I also want to keep personal information private.

Because these "Journey To..." URLs have a way of passing from neighbor to friend to random mom from the PTA that you've never met to the clerk at the grocery store to... well, suddenly my blog readership increases to Six Degrees of Tongginator and my private life becomes very, very NOT private. Which means I need another place to post all of that personal goodness for friends and family back home.

That way I can keep it real on the blog.

And just a little less real on the family website. But with real names and actual photos and such.

(Confused yet?)

Thank goodness there are a ton of websites geared for just this very purpose. My personal favorite is Adoption Voyages because the owner of the site is a fellow Tonggu Momma. (Yes! There is more than just me! Scary, isn't it???) This particular Tonggu Momma's eldest daughter, however, cannot truly be classified as a Tongginator because she is SWEETNESS PERSONIFIED, but since she still holds Tonggu Cutie status, we consider them part of our extended family of sorts.

Anyways, after a bit of a break, Adoption Voyages is up and running again. And my Tonggu Momma friend wanted to offer one of my readers a chance to win something cool. And since I love my friend, and I love y'all, I decided it was a match made in the blogosphere. To be ELIGIBLE for this giveaway, you must have either a China NSN log-in date no later than June 15, 2006, a China SN pre-approval in hand, or be in a comparable stage with another adoption program. (In other words, you'll likely travel before June 2011.)

The PRIZE is one Adoption Voyages Deluxe Package Website, which includes:
  • one homepage
  • one "Our Story" page
  • one travel page per day of adoption travel
  • six months post-travel hosting, including one "update page" per month
  • a guest book
  • an email account (optional)
  • and a keepsake CD
And yes, all of that can be password protected if you so choose. To enter the giveaway, if you are eligible, all you need to do is comment on this post. And if you "like" the Adoption Voyages Facebook page, then you can leave a second comment here for a double chance.

Woo-Hoo! Comment away through Saturday, October 2. I'll do the snazzy pick a comment out of the bowl on Sunday and announce the winner on Monday, October 4th.

Hi there, we do have our SN pre-approval and are waiting for our I-800. Hoping to travel by December - though this might be wildly optimistic. We are adopting a little girl from Guangxi.

Great idea, thanks!

Thanks, TM! And I can tell you haven't met my Tonggu girl in person yet, because she is very much a junior Tongginator. :-) Trust me on this one...

Hi There--Not sure if I have ever actually left a comment here or not, but I have followed for a while. Anyway, we are adopting from an African country (have to keep it vague for privacy and safety reasons), have our referral and will likely travel this winter/early spring. I would love the chance to blog about our travel journey and be able to password lock it for privacy so I can be more specific than I am on our family blog. So please count me in. Also, heading to Facebook now to "Like" the Adoption Voyages page.
Thanks!

We are in the process of adopting from China. We have a PA date of 3/18/2010, and we will hopefully be travelling this spring to bring home our little boy. I would love to win this package.

Thanks,
