Happy Birthday, Tonggu Daddy

Did y'all know that the husband and I actually met on Halloween? Or that he met my parents on Christmas Day? And that I met his parents at Easter? Or that he proposed to me on Inauguration Day? And that we married during the holiday whirl that is Advent?

We seem to be a couple obsessed with holidays.

But, for some strange reason, I can never seem to remember birthdays. They just aren't that important to me personally. (Hmm... I wonder who I get that from?) And wouldn't you know that the Husband's birthday has to fall at the beginning of a month, so that it completely escapes my attention until - all of the sudden - I'm flipping the calendar from July to August and wham!, I've got one day's notice.

(Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a tad for effect, but you get the picture.)

Tonggu Daddy is amazing. Not many men would put up with my sensory-self... my sharp tongue... my sardonic view of the world... my total lack of sentiment, especially when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries and Valentine's Day. He is - in a phrase - perfect for me, mostly because he possesses HUGE quantities of patience. I almost lost him twice, which still causes my breath to freeze in my chest, but thankfully God decided to allow me more time with him. Which is good, especially since I never would have gotten to post this photo of him on the internet otherwise.

And he forgave me for it. Which is why I love him. And why I decided to post a nice photo of him this year. It's one of the few non-face shots I have of Tonggu Daddy, taken somewhere I'm fairly certain most of you will recognize.

Happy Birthday, Tonggu Daddy! I love you!

Thank you Tonggu Momma. And as I said yesterday, I would do it all over again with you. You're the best. Well, perhaps not that one thing ... but yes to all the rest!

Happy Birthday TD - hope you have some special fun for yourself today!!

And yeah - I recognize where that picture was taken - oh so very well - and will return there one day for sure!

Oh - my first day with my future bride was on Halloween as well - to a haunted house (what better way to get a girl to hang all over you - who said I wasn't a little clever?)....this new connection scares me a tad....;)

hugs - aus and co.

Happy Birthday to your husband, who is fantastic like mine. (and older like mine! love to tease about that--and I'm wife #2 so I can add that I'm the "new and improved version")

So thankful TD is an "almost." Read both those posts, wow, TD, you are a real heart-stopper. And TM, how did you ever survive on 9/11 without the cell phones working? That is too, too scary. Thanks for being strong for your students that day, and not hiding in a closet as a basket case (which is what I would have wanted to do). Praise be to God who brought you all through and now you have the T and T's sibling somewhere waiting for you.

Awwwwwwwwwww, love your post about TD! you obviously have a super relationship and I love to hear that.

Have the BEST day celebrating! But, have the BEST day even if your not celebrating, which it kinda sounds like that might be the case.

Ha! My husband and I met on Halloween, too. I was dressed as the Cat in the Hat and, in an act that can only be regarded as youthful foolishness (at 30), was wearing--among other things--a black unitard. We had our first date on election day and got married on St. Patrick's Day...five years later.

Happy Birthday to your husband.

Happy Birthday! I love that he calls himself Tonggu Momma Husband. It makes me think of when I worked in Chicago and my students always referred to Bil as my Baby Daddy, even though we were married. Made me laugh.

Hope it's a good birthday!

wow. I'm always amazed at how you're able to make me feel such a range of emotions in one short blog post.

Here's hoping Tonggu Daddy has the most amazing year EVER!

(And you're not allowed near me on my 40th bday, Evil Woman!) : )

Happy Birthday, Tonggu Daddy!

I have to share this though. Jim & I knew each other online, but the first time we met face-to-face was Halloween weekend when he flew down to visit me. He came back at Christmas break and met my family. I flew to visit him over spring break (Easter) to meet his friends as his family didn't live nearby. Pretty similar though. ;o)

Wow. Now I feel completely boring and un-inspired. The Boss and I met on a random weekday thru a group of mutual friends. It was dislike at first sight. Nothing memorable, whatsoever. No holidays, nothing. Huh.

But... Happy B'day to TD - to a fellow dog days of summer b'day-er. It's been a beautiful couple days for a b'day here :)

Happy Birthday Tonggu Daddy!! I hope it's a great day! And I'm so glad there was a dignified photo on the c drive for this year's post.

TM, are't we sensible for marrying older men! No matter how old we get we're still younger. heh, heh, heh.

We love you guys!

I've solved your problem. August 1 is a holiday in Switzerland. It's their equivalent of July 4.

I read that this morning from a Swiss bloggy friend who was so happy to be in Switzerland on Aug 1 for the first time in many years.

Happy Birthday to the Tonggu Momma Husband!

Happy Birthday! Clearly TM married you for your stunning head of hair & the excellent taste you displayed in choosing attire for photos at the age of 4. But, as I've long observed, TM is a VERY astute woman of exceptional taste.

Celebrating with you that you still can celebrate him! I know that breath freezing in your chest feeling of almost losing the man you love. Hope you celebrated him well!
