Extraordinary Stories

I find it absolutely amazing that several dozen encouraging comments and a pedicure can completely calm me down. Because usually - once I get all wound up - nothing short of divine intervention will bring me back to earth. So thank you!

And yes, of course I did this myself. Because there is no way on God's green earth that I'd let ANYONE else touch my feet. Because ewww...

And now onto other news from the wonderful Shirlee McCoy, who is fellow contributor to the No Hands But Ours site...

We are seeking inspiring stories for an upcoming book project.

Did your journey to family take an unexpected path? Was your final destination different than you dreamed it would be—but also better? Would you like to share your family's story with others? We are looking for an eclectic mix of stories - from adoption and foster stories, to out-of-the-ordinary circumstances that brought families together. The stories can be faith-based, but they do not have to be.

Perhaps you:
  • Assumed unexpected legal custody of your child(ren) when a family member or friend passed away...
  • Made a lifelong connection with the family who donated an organ to a member of your family...
  • Found a twin you did not know existed...
  • Did not have children on the radar, but an unexpected circumstance changed everything...
  • Planned to adopt a healthy baby, but then you made a drastic change in your parameters...
  • Simply have a story to share about the way your family came together because the unlikely circumstances left you in awe.
I want to share my story - what do I do?

If you would like to share your story, please contact us via e-mail at extraordinarystories@hotmail.com. We will be gathering stories until August 31. We ask that you submit a brief (less than 300 words) summary of your story. You can do this in paragraph form, or as a bullet list... writing skill does not matter. If we need more information, we’ll be in touch.

What happens after I submit my story?

We will contact you via e-mail during the month of September to let you know whether or not we will be able to use your story. If we can use your story, we will discuss our project with you. Then, if you are amenable to continuing to work with us, we will likely set up a telephone interview. Your story will never be used without your permission.

Please share this request with others who may have a story to share.

Shared on my FB. Don't know if it will get any response, but I thought it was worth sharing. :-)

Oh, girl - you SO need to let someone else do your feet :) Not that you didn't do a good job - but really, bending over is NOT that much fun!!
