Two Blows

Yesterday one of my neighbors, a relatively young, fit firefighter, underwent emergency triple bypass surgery. And the news spread through the neighborhood that the older sister of one of the Tongginator's classmates was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. She underwent surgery last week to remove a brain tumor... and the biopsy results did not bring good news. If y'all are of the praying sort, I know that both of these families would covet your prayers.

Sometimes there just aren't any words.

So sorry to hear all this. I will be praying.

(On a happier note, I just have to mention that my toddler loves it every time I visit your site - "It's a panda bear!" she squeals, looking at your sidebar. You are definitely her favorite blogger!)

TM, I also have been surrounded by many tragic illnesses and deaths. It feels like calamity. I feel powerless. Which is to say, I understand and will pray.

It's true, sometimes there just aren't words. I want to offer comforting words to people in my life right now too and everything sounds so trite.

Peace to you and your friends,
Heather

I've felt that same heaviness for several of our friends as late. Praying for those in your neighborhood if you'll pray for ours!

We've been hit kind of hard here too. A friend of the family died of a brain tumor. He was 67, with some health problems but still, this was very sudden. Within 2 weeks of being diagnosed, he was gone. He had been Danny's Sunday School teacher and was a big marshmallow wrapped in a gruff exterior, and so, so sweet.

Anyway, I'll say a prayer for your friends.
