For the Fallen

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. As y'all head to picnics and pool parties with friends and family, please remember those who are no longer able to do so. Our freedom comes at a great cost... too, too many died so that we might speak freely, worship God in the way we see fit, assemble peaceably and receive fair treatment when accused of injustices.

The fallen aren't statistics... they are fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters. When they pay the ultimate sacrifice, they leave a wound in a family that doesn't disappear, even generations later.

during the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945

Since September 11, 2001, over 1,000 soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan and over 4,000 soldiers have died in Iraq. Please keep their families in your prayers this Memorial Day. And, as you go about your day tomorrow, remember that freedom isn't free.
