Snow No-No

The neighborhood has sunk to new depths. Do y'all remember the Pile of Snowy What-Not sitting in front of my house? Well, it's still there, y'all. And the Neighborhood Horde is too young to understand the phrase "familiarity breeds contempt." I don't even quite know how to describe what I viewed... y'all just need to see it for yourselves:

(the white layer? on the bottom? is from the two snowstorms that
occurred this week, each topping about 6 inches in our little town)

The children? Really, really, REALLY need to go back to school. In the past three weeks, they've had: three scheduled days off, four days of scheduled early dismissal, one two-hour start delay due to snow, one snow day and of course the Tongginator also stayed home sick two days last week. That means she's been in school only seven of the last 13 days... and five of those were half-days. I've LOVED having the extra time with my little gal, but she is crying out for some structure. As are the rest of the Neighborhood Horde. As evidenced by the photo above.

Who knows? If we get hit with a couple more snow days, the children might actually start doing more than just rolling around in that... er... what-not.

One or two disruptions to the schedule is fine, but any more than that, it just throws everything out of whack for both me and the kids.

(Who's supposed to clear that pile of, er, snow for you anyway...and why haven't they done so?)

umm, I hate to tell you but we are looking at around 10-20 more inches....maybe you should start charging and renting out ski's??

TM - you know they're predicting another storm of the century for the weekend. You won't be able to look out your house. That pile is ridiculous and can't believe kids want to touch it with it looking like that!

This is funny! My kids have been out all week and have a 2 hour delay today...and probably will be out tomorrow and most of the week next week with the snow that is coming. Ugghhh...I crave structure too!

Well, at least they haven't named it.

This is me, sticking my fingers in my ears, ignoring y'all. "LA LA LA LA LA!" *sigh* Yes, I know about the coming storm (though thanks for the warning, in case I didn't - cuz being caught by surprise would be terrible). It's just that it's supposed to arrive on the same day as our big Chinese New Year party. Which means no CNY party. We've been prepping the Tongginator for two days and her eyes still well up with tears when we talk about it.

Love the arm in the air. I can hear a "YeeHaw!" coming from that picture. Wanna know something sad? My DH just got a new snowblower and we are getting more snow Friday and Saturday. We have the opportunity to maybe have dinner together Friday night but he is MORE excited to use that darn snowblower! We got an INCH last Saturday and he brought it out to play.

Seriously!?! I agree with Desiree - you need to start brining in the cash for this, err.... amusement ride of sorts.

Snow? Who needs it!?!

Thank you for reminding me why I like living in Texas. That pile of black stuff is a bit creepy! :)

That is all the snow you have, and you have and that many days off? I am really jealous. In Utah the snow has to be clogging the roads and up to your waist -- and then it's just a two hour delay.

um, that is just discusto.

Sooo...you're saying I should be thankful that we're just getting cold nasty rain down here? ;)

What happens when they miss so many days due to weather? Do they have to make them up?

I'd totally be standing on my front porch hurling snowballs at those youngins!

you're supposed to get slammed with snow this weekend, aren't you?! i think that pile's gonna be around a l-o-n-g time, my friend.

Oh, I sure hope the snow doesn't disrupt your party!!! Nobody's mentioning Snow Storms of the Century down here.

Sending you clear sky thoughts!

Meanwhile, I decided a minor sore throat was reason enough to keep my girl home today. I'm suddenly wondering why I didn't choose to homeschool so I can spend every day in my jammies and never have to drive on snowy roads. Oh that's right.. recess. She needs it!

ummm....excuse me whilst I go vomit a little...just the THOUGHT. ewwwww

WOW you have gotten a LOT of snow so far this year!! I can't believe you are getting yet more now. I'm not sure if I should say sorry or not. I think I need to...

and AdoptionRoad - recess is "go play outdoors...NOW!!!!" ;)

What's wrong with black snow? Isn't that normal?

I can't believe how big that pile still is! LOL You need to bring a really long extension cord out side and attach your blow dryer to it. Kick start that thing into melting. It just might be there until summer! ;)

I am so glad you got a picture of that! Wow. I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless. Hope school gets back in session soon!

I didn't realize it had snowed so much recently out east. We are getting dumped on now and I know it is scheduled to hit where you live, too. I hope you all stay safe and warm. And get that little T back to school. She really needs to work on her reading. Ha ha. Just kidding! That girl can read better than most third graders!

Hot damn! That looks like fun!...for the kids anyway. (please...don't...hurt me)
I hope the weather doesn't smash your CNY party plans.
