Caption, Please

The weekend before Christmas, about 22 inches of snow dumped on our little town. When we headed down to spend the holidays with my family, we left icy streets and overtired, overworked snow plow operators navigating said streets. Four days later, we returned to find a HUGE pile of snow in front of our house. And it was REAL attractive, y'all, especially with the grime and dirt and salt and whatnot mixed in with the ice and snow.

And by whatnot, I really mean dog poop. Only I didn't quite know how to say that.

Unfortunately, it's still there, y'all... the snow, the ice, the grime, the... er... whatnot. The hill is slightly smaller after three weeks of warmer temps, but - alas! - it's still there. *sigh* I'm guessing all of our neighbors are sick of looking at it. I know we certainly are. But now I'm fairly certain that at least one person must have gotten extremely sick of the view. Because when I arrived home late this evening, here is what I found...

Caption, please. (And yes, that was our Christmas tree. Which was laying by the curb when I left, waiting for trash pick-up.)

Perhaps they were trying to freshen up the 'whatnot' with a clean, pine scent? ;)

It's the Climb.

Hey, if it gets into the 40's, hit that sucker with the hose...it will help melt it and flush...er move it out of there.

If you Plant it, They Will Come.

(Watch for squirrels with skis shortly.)

And now for the unsolicited advice from a person of snow. I know it is gross, but it will be there till doomsday if it is allowed to stay together. If you and TD shoveled it onto your lawn (spreading it around a lot) or out into the street a bit it would be gone in no time. (Leaving the whatnot behind unfortunately)

Mountain View.

Rhonda is too funny. It does look like one of those car air freshners. My husband starting chucking snow into the street. He was tired of looking at all the piles too although your mountain takes the cake.

There is more life in me yet?
See what I can do?
As for the pile I think I would try and hose it away!
What do I know we only ever get a couple of inches!

On top of old smokey... all covered in grime!

I think you should redorate the tree... put some lights on it, too, and run an extension cord out to it. LOL

Who was the builder of your home? It is almost identical (on the outside, anyway) to our home in Nashville.

As always, I agree with Happy Geek - spread that snow out or you will have a giant pile for months.

Also, I know this has nothing to do with it, but your house is lovely!

Bwaaaa ha! ha!

Sorry no brilliant "idears" but I sure enjoyed reading this and everyone's contributions!

I guess there was more "fertilizer" in there than you thought! :) Blech!

Happy Geek is right. Spread it out. It's only still there because it's in a huge pile and because there's dirt covering it like insulation. SOOOOooo.... I maintain that, yes, your snow is gone. see that bare lawn? that clear driveway? Mound of whatnot-laced snow doesn't count. Ugly? check. Ewww factor? Why yes. Are all the streets everywhere lined with such mounds? Not where you are!

Nice try. =)

I beg to differ, Anne... do you see that small pile of white by our lamp post? THAT? Is still snow, albeit a small pile.

"Well...this pile of c**p needed a little dressing up!"

And....it's just lovely. You wanna see mine?
:)

Anne said...

Ah yes. I see it. My apologies; I thought it was a paving stone. It's a veritable winter wonderland at your place.

Oh, and my caption: (hum along) "On top of crap mooouuuntain, all covered with dirt, I pitched my poor balsalm, then fell and got hurt. I slipped on the ice patch and slid down the poooooo, and then my poor balsalm, it sunk into the goo."

Anne, you made my evening! I'm humming as I type.

TM, I arrive Friday night and need to leave my car parked there when I leave for the airport. I say we hook the neighborhood shovels on the front of my car and spread that mess out.

Give your daughter a shovel and tell her that she's not allowed out in the front yard, no, not ever! And if she's anything like my kids, she'll be out there in a flash and totally dismantle it before you finish singing Anne's song.

Anne's comments made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
Good to see you still have snow on the lawn.
Uh huh.

LOL! I'm trying to figure out how they got it up there.

I'm thinkin' "Go Green" is an appropriate title.
Now imagine that your yard is the size of said pile - and your actual tree is in the middle of your yard - and only 5 years old, so just the top sticks out...and you've had a pile like that EVERY year for the 5 winters in your house...and it's ALL you can see when you look out your front door...Just sayin'
Now, just wait till spring when all that grime is in your grass.

The Gang's Momma! said...

I don't know Sharie, if my doggie "went" Green, I'd be freaking out. And I'd probably not care about the pile of what not in the neighbor's yards.

And I have no quirky witty caption. It's Thursday and I'm in bulletin writing mode. Which is by definition, not allowed to be quirky or witty.

Or so I'm told.

ha! Well it looks much prettier now!

You are so lucky you snow melts! Our garage and mudroom are a mess with grime, salt, dirt and I am only hoping there is not the "and what not" in there!

The "and what not" is all over my yard frozen on the snow!! Our yard looks like a dalmatian's coat!

That's kinda yucky. It's also my parking spot...
