Top 10 Reasons...

... that Christmas Eve is better than Christmas Day

10. Wrapping paper looks prettier on presents under the tree instead of in a shredded heap of trash by the tree.

9. It's the one day of year when even the most Grinchiest of persons will embrace Christmas carols. By Christmas Day, the Grinches are already murderous at the thought of yet another rendition of Jingle Bells.

8. For one night, excited children try their very best to settle down and fall asleep rather than fighting with you throughout the bedtime routine.

7. It's more fun to anticipate excited reactions to the presents you selected rather than to deal with the reality of a frozen smile and mumbled "thanks, Aunt Tonggu Momma" when a certain young one privately labels your present as bad as the dreaded Ugly Sweater or - even worse - The Same As Underwear.

6. Family togetherness hits an all-time high, since the children will all retreat to play with assorted treasures the very next afternoon.

5. Three simple words: Christmas cookie batter.

4. Even families that don't typically attend church will head out - after dark - to remind themselves of the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

3. The "Santa's watching!" threat doesn't work very well when you have another 364 days to go.

2. On Christmas Eve, no one takes pictures of you sporting horrific bed head, sans makeup and wearing unflattering pajamas.

1. You get to wake up later on Christmas Eve. Enough said.

Too funny! I especially relate to number 2. I usually try to avoid any pictures of myself Christmas morning. ;)

I also think the Christmas tree looks so naked after the presents are gone; so sad and lonely.

I hope you enjoy a very Merry Christmas Eve!

Blessings,
Tisha

I just said to Pat last night, we are going to need come up with something new after tomorrow. Everytime Sarah challenges us, we say "Santa is watching"...... it usually works, but like you said, when there are 364 days left, it may not work.

Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family!!

xo,

Lisa

#8 is the one I'm looking forward to the most!

Clone2 routinely fights sleep, and does not fall asleep until midnight or later...and ugh...soooo looking forward to him falling asleep early tonight. Early is anytime before 11pm. :)

Great list. The only thing that would make Christmas Eve better for me this year is if I didn't have to work today. I'm really looking forward to Lauren's bedtime tonight when we lay cookies & milk out for Santa for the 1st time and explain that Santa will be visiting us while she is sleeping. It's going to be so much fun!

Merry Christmas...hope you have a great one!

Don't forget that on Christmas day, there is a whole lotta new toys and such that litter the floor instead of being beautifully wrapped (and silent in some cases) under the tree!!! LOL!

I agree wholeheartedly! Danny actually wanted to go to bed EARLY on Christmas Eve this year. Crazy!

HERE HERE! Christmas Eve was lovely!

(However, my favorite Christmas Day reaction? Myrnie wrapped up a movie from Ernie's "treat bag" that she had never chosen as a treat. When she unwrapped it Christmas morning, she squealed, "Oh, yea!!! It's the movie I don't like!"

Kids just like to open stuff. ;-))
