Twas the Night Before Kindergarten...

Twas the night before kindergarten and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except for Mom with her mouse
The Tongginator tossed and turned, upstairs in her bed
dreams of bus rides, story time and lunch filling her head

Folders and markers and pencils galore
were crammed in her backpack and set by the door
A new dress hung in the closet with care
Knowing Miss T, what did you THINK she would wear?

TM spent hours fretting, before packing a lunch
Her Food Nazi self sending healthy food to munch
Tonggu Daddy slept peacefully, just like a log
while TM cried and pouted, writing at her blog

Then TM thought back to earlier that night
when the three-some ran out to grab a quick bite
Miss T beamed with pride when the waitress said, "Wow!"
"Kindergarten? Really? You're a big girl now!"

And so Tonggu Momma swallowed sobs, dried her eyes
and prepared herself for tomorrow's cheerful goodbyes
because Miss T is SO ready, as I'm sure you'll agree
and TM will survive by drinking loads of coffee

The End.

(Or is it the Beginning?)

Awww, she'll be ok. You might want to add a little Irish to that coffee...

(Next time try doing a poem to the tune of Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel). ;)

I know...I'll be a mess too (but I still have 2 years to wait for the big day!) Thinking about you and your girl!

Good luck TM! Let us know how it goes. I am especially interested as my B starts kindergarten on Monday. Give me an idea of how many tissues I should take with me to the bus stop, kay? ;-)

It's the beginning... trust me, the beginning of a whole new adventure for both of you!

I've prayed for you this morning. Even though I've got teens, I can still remember those "first" mornings!

You will both do awesome this year!!!

Blessings upon you.

This is a big day. I am excited for both you! 15 and 17 years later, I STILL remember that day, and am anticipating/dreading Short Stuff's turn.

Oh TM...you'll do just fine. It's definitely a milestone for all of you and the beginning of more of some great Tongginator adventures!

BTW last year when miss Grace had her first day of Kindergarten we walked together to her classroom, I did the hand off(she did awesome) and I started sobbing in the parking lot on the way to the car...hope you brought Kleenex.

Great poem btw!

It's truly the beginning. Talking with The Boy each day after K has helped me create a more holistic picture of who he really is. It's beautiful!

Awwww...hugs. That got me all teared up. I'm only a year away from KK starting kindergarten and it completely overwhelms me.

It sounds like you guys are really prepared and have a great teacher. Here's to a great year!

It's the beginning of a glimps of yet another side of her personality that will develop.

MM did not want to get on the bus this morning. That was hard.

Here's my bracing hug, followed by a firm hand on each shoulder, and a steely-eyed (what? I can't use poetic license?) "You have done everything a responsible and loving mother can do. You will make it, she will make it."

Some things you only get through by *going* through them. You'll get through it.

Love it! What a fun post.

And you'll do wonderful TM...just like your big girl!

It's such a mix of emotions seeing our babies grow up...

I would bet you did great...only a few tears, lots of photos, and Princess Butterfly (is that still preferred) flitted and fluttered into that classroom with the biggest of grins!

Of course I can say this as I'm STILL homeschooling my 10.5 year old and have yet to send him off into a big bad school for an entire day. ;) I know I'd be a mess myself...so major hugs and I hope you did something NICE for yourself today.

Love it! Enjoy your coffee and just pray yourself through the day.

I love the poem! And I feel your pain. Danny started kindergarten last week and it was way more traumatic for me than for him. I hope you feel better now that the first day is over. Good luck!

Wow, I am impressed.

I dread the day that our sweet girl goes off to school. Oh, I too know she will do fine, our little social butterfly. But I hear what you are saying, hard on mama, exciting for the kidlet, and daddy sleeping peacefully.

Hugs gal,

Kiy

P.S. And yes, this is late. It's catch up day today!
