Not a Little Kid

During the bathroom before bedtime routine earlier this week...

TONGGINATOR: (while sitting on the potty) Why is THIS the only potty in our house with handles on the side of it?

TONGGU DADDY
: Well, doodlebug honey, that's so little kids, when they're learning to go potty, they can hang on and not fall off.

TONGGINATOR: Well, I'm NOT a little kid anymore. (standing up and handing the seat to her Daddy) Take this away. (sitting back down, then glancing towards her feet, and responding with Major Sassitude) And the stool, too.

Well okay then.

And now I'm reflecting on ALL of the milestones that I never pictured before becoming a parent... funny and bittersweet at the same time.

WOOHOO! I'm first!

I took BBJ to a family restroom in the mall yesterday, and there was an ITTY BITTY little blue plastic toilet for her. She could NOT figure out how to use it - she thought it was the stool, and not the toilet. LOL
(Oops, now you know what today's "other" excuse is going to be on my blog. LOL)

Hilarious!

My daughter, who is 8, keeps asking me in public restrooms why they sell napkins for $0.25.

I wonder what she'll consider she's too old/too big for next? They do grow up so fast.

Time flies, doesn't it, when you're marking it against your child's milestones? (And that fact remains even with teens!)

Blessings!

I'm thinking that handles on the side of adult toilets would be great. You know, for leverage.:)
She's a sassy one, your girl!

That's too cute! We just recently put away ours - not quite with the same flair, of course! - but just realized that Ina was no longer using it.

Ours is gone too, with almost the same dramatics ;)

Although, the other day, Miss K was in the bath & had to go potty...I lifted her slippery self out & put her on the potty & yeah...you guessed it...her slippery self just about fell in!! Did she cry? Nooooo...she thought it was hilarious!

These days seem to be chock full of bittersweet moments...& always entertaining!

It IS bittersweet. And doodlebug totally rocks (the name and the person)

LOL yep...that IS a milestone, and one our little Princess just skipped into. She's a "big" girl at 3 years old now, and she refuses to use ANY potty training aid to help make the adult toilets more her size...no ma'am she's a BIG girl. *sigh*

I'm still fighting the "momma wipes" battle with her. Why is that the boys seemed to need my help until they were at least 5 but Miss Independents does NOT want me to help except to help her with the clothes portion? Oh, and to turn on the light because she's not quite tall enough yet for that either.

Little T uses either her potty chair or the regular toliet depending on what kind of mood she's in.

On the way to WV today we were in a public bathroom and she went peepee. While waiting for me she decides to squat and look under the partition at the person next to us. Oh my! At least she didn't say anything! When T was a toddler he peeked under and exclaimed "Momma...she's really fat!" ummm....yeah....

Hugs,
Carla

Sometimes I think, children are the smartest creatures on earth. Thanks for sharing your experiences. By the way, there's a new social networking site dedicated to parents and kids, it's called Bluepixo.com - it's a place for Moms, Dads, and Kids! Now, there’s even a chance to win a free iPod Nano!. It would be so nice of you to join our parents’ forums and polls. Thanks a lot and have a great day!

I'm glad you are actually using my word. Nice. I feel famous now. Ha ha.
We had a similar potty conversation just this week ourselves. R managed to edge her cute little hind-end up on the 'regular' toilet seat and hang on to the sides (her child seat is on the other toilet). She promptly announced, "I'm a big girl now Mama!" I just didn't have the heart to tell her that she'll REALLY be a big girl when she's worrying about paying rent, taxes and gravity wreaking havoc on her body. Ah, they grow up so fast. (sigh)

Definitely bittersweet!

Briana wants to go potty "all by herself" now. Except when she is finished, she can't get her panties back on the right way (she strips from the waist down). I have seen some very imaginative ways to put on panties in the last few weeks.

Hm, not sure how to phrase this delicately and google-proofly, does she, um, wipe without assistance yet? Because that's one big-girl milestone I am SO looking forward to. I won't even get all weepy over that one. Heh.

We finally got rid of ours too. But at least you can remind her you're saving it for her Mei Mei.

LOL!!! I hope you were referring to a "stepping stool" and not a stool lands in the loo?!!!
