Day at the Pool

After our early success in the pool at the beginning of summer, the Husband and I hoped that the Tongginator might actually learn to dog paddle by the end of August. Unfortunately, a full thirty days of Tonggu Momma whining "I don't want to be Izzy!," plus two additional weeks of the Must Not Get Stitches Wet Rule kinda put a damper on those plans.

(And if you got that whole Izzy reference, I totally heart you.)

I get my stitches out today (yeah!), but that didn't exactly help us out yesterday, when I still couldn't submerse myself in water. Thankfully, my best bud Canuck K and her girls invited us to THEIR pool, with the understanding that my job for the day was to take a few photos in between whining about how sweat perspiration glow really irritates a certain incision.

It was a lovely day, despite my whining legitimate concerns.

We even managed to feel exceptionally safe, despite our child to parent ratio in the water at three to one. Our strong sense of security probably formed because the lifeguards at Canuck K's pool really do seem to know what they are doing.

the CPR dummy

Said lifeguards worked hard to protect us from the many dangers one might encounter at the pool, namely the Dreaded Creature From The Black Lagoon,

Spice, looking oh-so-gorgeous

which was so incredibly frightening, some of us didn't believe our eyes...

the Tongginator's bestest buds, twins Cinnamon and Spice

while others slipped into a dead faint.

the Tongginator with her HEAD UNDER WATER!!! Woo-hoo!!!

We all managed to have fun, regardless of the scare,

the Tongginator, Cinnamon and Spice

declaring it an A Number One day at the pool.

one of the twins - can't see the goggles to know which

And yes, we ALL wore our sunscreen. Because we totally don't want to end up like Izzy. Nor do we want to listen to anymore whining by *ahem* a certain someone (me).

Umm...that reference totally went over my head. Grey's Anatomy?

Anyhow, looks like a GREAT day at the pool!!!

Hmmm - not sure about the Izzy ref either -- wasn't that Meredith that went under and almost stayed there?

Anyway, fun pool pictures -- too cute. Hope your owwie feels better soon! After trying group lessons previously, we have found private swim lessons are the way to go! Have a great day!

Looks like you had a TON of fun.
I'm lost with the Izzy thing too....did someones pet lizard die or something LOL!
Thanks for clarifying the "CPR" dall...I was squinting trying to decide whether it was something else...and I couldn't imagine that it was...well you know....lets just say I'm glad it didn't have long blond hair. LOL!
Hope your booboo gets better soon.

Looks like fun. It is always so exciting to see a child who is scared of the water initally put their head under! Adam has yet to try this. Nor has Jeane, come to think of it. We're working on it....:-)

I think your fears of going the way of Izzy will be significantly lessened if you steer clear of all prom dresses! Those seem to be - literally - the kiss of death!

(Do you Heart me now or what?)

The CPR life guard is hilarious!! Tell Tongginator we're SO proud of her for putting her head under!!

Love the Izzy association - keep using that sunscreen:)

SO happy that T put her head under water! My Amelia seems to have the opposite problem, if I had a $1 for every time during lessons that I jumped up to pull her out of the water - I'd be rich. She likes to see how long she can stay under - I SOOO don't like it.

Glad the stitches are coming out - wish I could have them for you. Any excuse not to be seen in a bathing suit:)

LOVE your lifeguard! Totally appropriate that he's the CPR dummy... he's had it performed on him enough, he's got to know what he's doing!
Great pics too and YAY for the Tongginator putting her head under water!!
Glad you're getting the stitches out (and not just so that the whining will stop ;)
(I know I've been missing from the comments lately... life is a little crazy these days with some stuff I'm not ready to blog about yet. I've been reading, just not finding time to comment, but I miss my bloggy friends)

LOL @ Debz comment, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who gave that thing a 2nd glance.

Glad the dreaded stitches come out, those things are YUCK! Looks like a fun day at the pool, if you ever find yourself in Texas, you'll have to come visit ours, too. :)

Haha! I totally had the same initial reaction to the CPR lifeguard that Debz did! "That isn't a .... no, surely not ... (Soooo glad I wasn't the only one.)

And the Izzy reference in the beginning had me stumped until you mentioned the sunscreen at the end. Duh.

Izzy :) Now I remember.

Kids look hilarious with their goggles on - they don't even look like themselves. I'm glad you had fun at the pool. Great way to wear them out!

Okay, I got the Izzy reference. But don't tell my mom or my sister. They both think the show is horrible, immoral, soap-operish, etc. blah, blah, blah, blah.

And I begged off of swimming yesterday and today - two hottest, most swim-worthy days we've had since before school got out. Why? Well, certain womanly issues (snort, get it?) created an uncomfortable reaction to the extreme heat. Like passing out from sunstroke uncomfortable. My kids were mad. I was glad. I got a lot done.

LOL or should I say...splisha splasha!!....now that is just pure fun! You have a bloggy knack my clever friend! :) That lifeguard was a cutie; I'm surprised he can watch the pool whilst fending off the oogles of girls he must attract! :) Too cute!

Glad to hear those stitches are coming out....you deserve a fun day in the pool too!!

Hugs, Lisa
P.S. yay for the Tongginator for going under!!

I just love your blog. It looks like you're up for some amazing milestones. Be prepared: First day of Kindergarten is so much worse than you think it will be. It was for me anyway. I always laughted at those overly emotional "weird" women. . .and then I was one. . .Amazing how children change us! Good luck!

Anyway, I found my way over this time from Queen B, when you commented about your hubby having ideas about decorating. I feel your pain! Unfortunately, my hubby also has specific ideas about decorating. The problem is his colorblindness. He honestly tells ME which colors look bad even though he doesn't know what they are. . .MEN!!

I'm totally through babbling now!

Looks like a perfect pool day even without a wet TM!

Uh, thank goodness you told me that was the CPR dummy because minds do wander.....

I got my stitches out yesterday too!

Hoping you are ship shape now......and KEEP OUTTA THAT SUN!

That is so awesome!!! Based on her sensory reactions to the pool, I figured she'd be very old before she'd put her face in. GREAT JOB!!!!! Teach Marvel Girl, 'kay?
