The Perfect Tee

Yesterday I headed out for a Girls Night with Mrs. R. We stopped in at a local outlet mall for some much dreaded shopping before heading off to the requisite dinner and a movie. Now, y'all know how much I loathe shopping, but Mrs. R needed to find a baby gift for a mutual friend's infant bundle of goodness, so we stopped by a Gymboree outlet.

Oh, the sacrifice.

I must admit to a few weaknesses when it comes to my much publicized dislike of shopping. While I "don't care for" - heh - most retail establishments, I do love me a good bookstore. And a Gymboree outlet. In that Blessed Oasis Of Suitable Children's Wear In A Society Filled With "I'm Sassy" Pants, I found the most perfect shirt ever for the Tongginator. It fit her to a tee, the perfect testament to the Tongginator's charms and wonders.

It read "Miss Independence."

Unfortunately I could not purchase said shirt because the retail gurus at Gymboree failed to foresee the need to create both a matching shorts AND skirt option. I mean, y'all would think that the Oh Wise And Great Clothing Manufacturer would realize that the type of child to wear a shirt that reads "Miss Independence" might possess strong opinions about the shorts versus skirt option.

I'm just saying...

I knew the Tongginator would refuse to wear a pair of shorts, even if the shirt fit her perfectly, both literally and figuratively, so I instead opted to purchase a cute little red, white and blue sundress, plus these amazing flipflops.

Said flipflops are AMAZING because they caused little Miss Independence to jump up and down for a full three minutes, chanting repeatedly "I LOVE my new flipflops!" Thankfully, Little Miss Independence seemed happy with my wardrobe selections for the all-important Fourth of July parade and picnic. I can now breathe a sigh of relief.

And somehow I suspect that others will recognize her as Miss Independence, even without that shirt.

I bought Little T some flip flops or flips as we call them because she has a hard time saying flip flops. She was so funny the first time she wore them! She'd pick her feet way up and set them back down but she has it now and runs around like a little maniac in them.

Don't you just love little piggies??!!

Hugs,
Carla

I only once bought a printed tee for one of my kids. It was for my most stubborn daughter, and it said, "Future President." She insisted, however, that it said, "Big Bubble Maker."

There's a political comment in there somewhere, but I don't know what.

Cute flip flops! I'm so glad she liked them. I LOVE Gymboree only or outlet is almost two hours from us! :(

One day she will turn her nose up at the things you bring home. You still have a few years or are you telling us that she already does that?!?

Could you not pair the shirt with a cute jean skirt? Quick... run back and get the shirt... she MUST have it! LOL

Those are stinkin cute.
I wouldn't worry too much about the t-shirt, when she gets the princess wave out and maybe boogeys a little bit, people will know that she is truly MISS independence.

ya' know? I was just thinking last night how tough it might be to get G out of flip flops and into real shoes for school, not to mention if I ever get another job how I won't want to get out of flip flops. They have become my standard. Cute flops for the tonginator.

Must she wear a skirt with the shirt? I mean, does every shirt HAVE to have a matching skirt?

ooh, if said retail outlet was in my neck of the woods, I wish I could have joined ya'll. It's just to nad there isn't a book store at the outlet....
Anyway , depending on the shirt, I could make a matching skirt...
I know what ya mean my girls ALWAYS have to match!!

The flipflops are really cute! But how come you are teasing us with a description but no picture of the dress?

I'm happy to say that I finally broke Miss A from skirts only. But without and older sister that wears everything I don't know if it would have worked. Oh the fits when I would try to get her to wear shorts or pants. Thankfully, we have killed that monster.
