Embarrassment: PW Style

So my good friend and pastor's wife (hence the nickname PW) PW led children's church two Sundays ago. She typically enjoys settling in the children for the first few minutes, asking them about their weeks and if they have any prayer requests. Unfortunately, that week my daughter the Tongginator created Quite The Embarrassing Moment for her...

PW: How was everyone's week? Does anyone have any prayer requests?

TONGGINATOR
: My week was NOT good... I'm scared of going to the pool because I don't like getting my face wet. It's scary.

PW'S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER A: I get MY face wet. I love swimming.

PW: (NOT pleased with her daughter A's attitude) Yes, you do. But different things scare different people. Everyone has something that they are scared of. The Tongginator is scared of going under water, but what scares all of YOU?

RANDOM CHILD: I don't like spiders.

ANOTHER RANDOM CHILD: I don't like climbing up really high. Because then you might fall.

THIRD RANDOM CHILD: I don't like thunder and lightening... especially when it's nighttime.

FOURTH RANDOM CHILD: Or when it's dark because you don't have your nightlight.

PW'S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER A: Yeah... because then you might get really scared when you hear loud noises coming out of your mommy and daddy's room.

(let that sink in)

The congregation erupted in laughter. And PW blushed like a tomato. Oh yes, she did. She told me later that she blames the Tongginator. Completely. Heh.

no Fair! The Tongginator gets blamed for way too much. I think that PW just needs to wink and say, Yep, I love my husband! and leave it at that. NO fair blaming your butterfly princess...who after all just was sharing one of her fears! :)

Oh, I am SO laughing at that! Because my lovely 6 year old once told our pastor's wife that "Mom and dad like to go into their bedroom on Sunday afternoon and have a nap together. Except that Daddy comes out before Mom. Mom must like longer naps, I guess. Daddy's not in there very long." Yowsas. Talk about embarassing!

That is hilarious, but as another PW who does children's sermons on a regular basis, that is why I avoid open-ended questions. You never know what they are going to say. :-)

Oh that's funny.
I'm always terrified whenever my son raises his hand during the children's sermon. I always tell my Sunday school parents that I won't believe what the kids say about them if they won't believe what they say about me!

What a great laugh for a lazy Saturday afternoon. I myself would've died of embarrassment. Thank Gawd our child sleeps like the dead. Hopefully the one coming home in 10 days will too! :-)

BAH HA HAHAHAHAHAHAA!! Hilarious.

That's why all rooms belonging to children should have a FAN. White noise is a good thing.

I'm catching up on my blog reading after being away from vacation. I knew I could count on you for a laugh this morning and you didn't disappoint! And to think pastors and their wives only did "that" to procreate. *snort*
