A Swatch of Pink

I absolutely cannot believe I'm going to share this... because it pretty much announces to y'all something Quite Embarrassing about yours truly... but I really can't NOT tell it. (And yes, Grammar Police, I am aware that is a double-negative. Deal.)

Yesterday, while our house guest Mrs. R carried a load of laundry upstairs to her bedroom, the Tongginator caught a glimpse of pink as the laundry basket passed her at eye level. She yelled out, "Wait!!!!" and then grabbed for the swatch of frilly, floral goodness.

It wasn't just pink, y'all. It was elegant, fru-fru pink.

The Tongginator fell in love with it. She paraded that fabric around the living room like it carried a designer label, or at least a Disney Princess Seal of Approval. Mrs. R turned a little bit pink herself, while I struggled to keep my giggles inside and firmly insist that the Tongginator return Mrs. R's property.

The Tongginator handed it over rather reluctantly, then sighed wistfully. Mrs. R disappeared up the stairs with her clean clothes, probably thanking her lucky stars that the husband had yet to arrive home from work. And I? I felt deeply embarrassed when the Tongginator said to me, "Those was SO pretty, Momma. I didn't know grown-up women could wear pretty ones like that."

Yes, y'all. It's sad, but true. I - Tonggu Momma - wear plain-old white undergarments. Some might even say of the granny variety. Pity the husband.

And blame Tonggu "comfort is key" Grammy.

That's sooo funny!

(Psst! I do have a couple of the "comfortable" undergarments myself. Can't bring myself to part with those somehow.)

Once while my sweet mother-in-law was visiting, I included some of her "clothing" in our wash. Afterward, I had the kids helping me fold. Kat pulled out a silky pair, held them up and announced to the entire family, "These are HUGE! Whose undies are these???"

No recovering from that one! Ha!

Blessings!

Ha ha ha ha!! OK...should I mention this here? My daughter currently has 48 pair of undies. FORTY_EIGHT! (I know this because we took EVERYTHING out of her room recently to redecorate/paint.) She is a cute-undies nut. No thongs, though!

Me? I'm all about comfort. I will wear cute underwear but I've gotta have a bra that isn't itchy, scratchy, or tight, squeezy, pinchy, etc. My hubby dreams over the pretty bras in the Sunday sales papers and I tell him when he wears scratchy underwear I will, too.

I'm all about the matching and frilly. Go shopping TM and get Tongginator some ruffles, too.

You can find cute, frilly and comfortable undies! They do exist!

And double negatives are fine, since you used it correctly and made it into a positive :) You pass ;)

....but(t) comfort IS key, isn't it?

My sister TT once left her granny panties on the bathroom floor at my other sister's house - that sister, her 3 daughters and another sister went to Victoria's Secret and bought her a whole envelope full of panties. TT was mortified when they arrived in the mail - she was too embarrased to even return them for something she would wear:) Gave them to a niece to exchange. I don't think she ever saw her granny panties again...This is what happens when you have 4 sisters and 9 nieces.

I'd laid out my clothes this morning before my shower & Lydia was watching Mickey Mouse in my bed. When it was time to get dressed, I couldn't find my bra. I looked in my drawer, in the closet, in the dirty clothes. Where could it be? Had I lost my mind, too? So, I asked Lydia who had followed me into the closet, "I can't find my black bra. Do you know where it is?" I asked to make conversation not to actually FIND it. BUT, she left my bedroom and came back a few seconds later with my black bra. Not sure where she'd taken it or why...

It's hilarious that pink unders for grown-ups are foreign to her. If I were her mother, I would be telling the same story.

Good thing I have boys. They won't give a hoot about my granny panties. At least I hope not....

Well, my collection includes colors, but nothing too sexy. Comfort is key.
Don't even get me started on the bras.

ALL of my panties are granny. I was wondering the other day if they still MADE the cute ones in my size?? I was thinking I should break down & buy some pink myself!!

TongguMomma, you crack me up!

Lump me in with the comfort crowd - no itchy lace for me. However, I do wear Victoria Secret's cute, comfortable, cotton ones in a wide array of colors and patterns for the girl in me (she's in there somewhere!)

If it is from VS there's no way they can be considered "granny", right?
