Sunday Linkage

As always, I don't necessarily agree or disagree with these links, but I believe they are important to consider. For those of you new around here, I'm an adoptive momma. Each Sunday I try to post links relevant to the China- adoptive community. I read some of these linked posts while nodding my head in agreement... others stretch my mind as I seek to understand. Always, always, I consider them.

Lucky Girl book discussion challenge -- adoptive momma (Taiwan) Sarah at Journey to Taiwan for Hannah Claire... a virtual book club discussion occurring through June 7th about Taiwanese adult adoptee Mei-Ling Hopgood's memoir Lucky Girl

The Perfect Fairy Tale -- adult adoptee (India) Pushpa Duncklee at Pushpa's Blog... a reminder that adoption is a life-long journey, not an end point

where is that darned line? -- adoptive momma (China) mama d at zarfing sunshine... on the line between adoption-related and typical childhood fantasy

Dragon Boat Festival
-- Sophie, a momma raising her children bilingually, at Hao Mama 好妈妈... on this past Thursday's Chinese Festival, Duan Wu Jie (端午节)

One Perspective on Parenting Through the Lens of an Adoptee, AP and Bio Parent
... adult adoptee (Korea) and adoptive parent (Korea) Paula at Heart, Mind and Seoul... on why bringing a child into the family through adoption is NOT the same as giving birth

Transracial adoption with a twist -- adult adoptee (Korea) Jae Ran Kim at Harlow's Monkey... providing a link to an article about a Caucasian man adopted and raised in China by Chinese parents

When to confront someone -- Jennifer, a professor of contemporary American literature and Asian-American literature, at Mixed Race America... providing examples as to how non-confrontational people can speak truth when faced with racism, both subtle and overt

Lowering expectations -- adoptive momma (Russia, domestic - private and Liberia) Courtney at Adoption Connect... the importance of taking into account an adoptee's emotional age

As always, thank you for pointing us in directions many of us would not have gone. I always learn so much from these links. Not always easy to read, but the knowledge needs to be learned.

Thank you TM,
