It's Not Because I Forgot the Camera

or Why There Are So Few Pictures of TM and the Tongginator Together

In case y'all have yet to pick up on this fact, I am a bit of a slacker momma when it comes to the Tongginator's wardrobe choices. To be completely honest, I DO tend to buy the pricey cute outfits from the mall rather than the practical ones from Target, but I also shrug my shoulders when pairing plaids and stripes shouts out "I'm cool" to the Tongginator. Still... some days are sacred. Some days are Important. Some days you just want your child to look nice.

Take Mother's Day, for example.

I stood my ground. I picked out the Tongginator's dress for church that morning. Unable to sense the trap before ingesting my first cup of coffee, I ceded the rights to shoe and sweater selection in return for a minimum of fuss. What could possibly go wrong, right?

Err... look closely.

VERY closely.

Even closer.

Happy Mother's Day to me. Heh.

And for more lovely outfits, check out Fashion Friday at Do They Have Salsa in China?

And the moral of the story? Always, always get that first cup of coffee in your system before ceding any rights to the Tongginator!! bwahahahaha!!!!!

What a sport (that's you, TM)!

At least you kept up your part of the bargain. :)

Hey! The shoes are PINK the dress has PINK. Perfect, no? And why wouldn't one leave the tags on the outside her mall clothes? We wouldn't want anyone to think we shop at Target, right? *snort*

Blessings!

LOL she is adorable and I love her flair for fashion!!!!!!
So, tell me my friend...if you head to a PFP workshop, I so will go...you will have to come out of the closet and show your face!!! Or you can wear a rockin paper bag!!!!
I think that Miss Tongginator is going to grow up to be a fashion designer. I love that she is creative!!!! I sported a few creative outfits myself back in the day...heck I still sport a few that makes my kids go "huh"

A`sense of humor is so important when raising strong willed children. At least that's what I keep telling myself :-)
Oh, and keep breathing slowly if the coffee isn't working yet.

The dress is pretty, pretty, pretty for a pretty girl. And she's doing her 'thang' - good for her...umm....you!

Oooo, I have to concede that round to the Tongginator. Heh heh.

I picked out the dresses for Mother's Day and then had a whopper of a struggle for shoe rights and finally gave up. A nice mimosa perked me right up at the fancy brunch my children attended in beautiful dresses and flip flops... sigh.

Two things that I think are adorable, this and a chocolate face kiss... sweet.

What? Flip flops and nice dresses do not go together? ;) I think she did a fabulous job. Let's hear it for creativity. And good for you for having a good sense of humor.

I think I have told you before but I think you are a very wise mother to pick your battles!

At least she didn't want to wear Crocs! Or high top tennis shoes! LOL

She's adorable. She could have gone in a flour sack and no one would have noticed cause her personality would shine right through.

By the standards of the Beach Crew, your daughter is dressed up beautifully! Really, she is adorable. Now I know our daughters are related!!! We have the same pair of shoes! I tried to hold my ground on Mother's Day, but just had to wave the white flag of surrender. I feel like all of the PreK moms talk about how, let's say, casual the Royal Duo dress for school. If it wasn't for our neighbor's generosity with gving us her daughters' used clothing, mine would be nek-ed as we say down south.

That's funny, and so like my daughter. I could spend hours trying to convince her to wear a cute dress and she would put a non matching sweater with it or something similar. At least they have their own sense of style, right?

That child has some THICK goregous hair!

I would have cut that tag out ages ago and tried to make people think I actually made that cute little brown sweater.

Nice footwear too, Mom. :)

On the big scale it doesn't look that bad!
But can imagine when you have an outfit sorted and it all goes to ruin!

She still looks cute. It's also an ongoing battle with my daughter on getting dressed. Tonginnator's flower clip is adorable.

I ALWAYS lose the shoe war - it's the last thing separating me from the door - and being semi on time for work. In the last month Amelia has worn slippers, not on pajama day...cowboy boots on a 70+ degree day...and no socks on MANY less than 40 degree mornings. I figure if her feet freeze or sweat off she's strong headed enough to figure out a way to get around:)

Well well well... it looks like we had the same Mother's day! For some reason it is so much funnier in your pictures :)

And the tag on the outside - well wasn't that the style at one point? I do think that this round goes to her...

OHH she is a doll!!!! Im going to have to post a pic of my daughter and her style next week! CUTE!

LOVE it. I love that you care, but not really.

There's something to be said for having some pride..... it's the BEING prideful that gets us in trouble.

You seem to have it balanced perfectly.

I love it!!! She'll be OH so happy you documented all of this one day. (: Really, she WILL!

Tonggu Grammy said...

Heather, I agree! Aren't y'all grateful that I took ALL those photos of TM when she was little? I just KNOW that TM is happy to have all the documentation to use at this point in her life. The Tongginator will, I assume, feel the same way.

I think the pink sandals look sassy - right along with the inside-out sweater.
Rock on.
