Hair Dare

I'm sad to tell y'all that the Tongginator didn't really express herself unusually with her fashion choices this week. But her hair... her hair was another story. And no, it does not in any way involve gum or scissors. On Tuesday the Tongginator decided, midway through our morning hair routine, that she felt perfectly presentable as is.

It just wasn't worth the argument, so I allowed her to attend school looking like this:

Behold the newly dubbed Tongginator Pig-Braid. Her teachers must think I am insane.

I've learned that teachers will think that no matter what you do...so you might as well have fun with it! She looks great, and hey maybe she'll start a trend. I wonder if any other little girls had the guts to ask why her hair was that way?? :)

Thanks for making me laugh this morning!

Gotta love the T and her confident self!! Not many people could carry this look off. ;)

There is a new fashion trend here at the Sand Castle. The Royal Duo insist on SHARING every item so that they each have ONE of each. The attended preK yesterday, each wearing One pink sock, One white sock, One blue hair clip, and One Green hair clip. When the first teacher commented on The Princess' unique appearance, I indicated that it wasn't unique because The Queen had on the other identical pair:)

Wow. Can't wait to see what her little rebel self is doin' in 10 years ;)
You GO, Tongginator! Lookin' GOOD! :)

Oh I needed a laugh this morning after the night we had. I will admit, though, that when you mentioned the Tongginator's hair, my first thought was GUM!!!

So if I start to see this hair style around here, I'll know where to come and give thanks ; )

OK, I must be a geek, because I think it's kinda cute. Or maybe I just taught high school for too long. At least it's not pink and shaved down the middle.
You go Miss T!

Who knows, she just may start a new trend. And, I agree with Happy Geek - it's better than a lot of the alternatives! Ha!

Blessings!

Gotta love her independence. :)
Such beautiful hair she has, so healthy and long.
Again, I do admire your ability to let her express herself. You are a sweet mom.

Thanks for the giggle this morning! Tongginator is a a piece of work - and I mean that in a good way. She and my daughter would be 2 peas in a pod. Happy Mother's Day!

Oh man, I snorted uncontrollably at the words "Pig Braid" -- love it!!

BWAHAHAHAHA

That right there is what makes me love you - you know thaT a pig braid isn't the end o the world, and makes great blog fodder to boot!

What? I think it's cute. :) Can't wait to see how she looks at 10, 13, 17, etc.
Bet you for at least a couple of those years she dresses in twin sets, pearls, and tweed skirts! Or something equally unexpected.

I was thinking of the trendsetting possibilities like another commentor above.

I wonder how many other girls went home and asked for a similar 'do?

Love it! Good thing her mom isn't a control freak. And yes, it is likely that her teacher thinks you are insane....but...well....aren't ya? ;-)

I'm telling you - she sets the standard for new fashion. You will be seeing that hairdo during fashion week next year. :)

That is so cute! Amelia wanted to wear one pig tail up and one down, but I made her take it out - I guess I'm a "mean" mom.

You are a nicer mama than me. I would have insisted on finishing the hair or removing the braid. I can't deal with the non-matching, not going together stuff. My girls can barely do Tacky Day at school!! I don't like them to look odd. What if we have to go to the store after school?

Oh, and speaking from a teacher's point of view, yes, you are insane. :-)

Hmmm. Maybe I am too controlling, huh?

oh my gawd......you are hysterical.....I would do the same thing.....you must be my long lost twin! lol

I love it!!! I send Danny to school so often thinking that his teacher must think I am crazy, but as you said sometimes it's not worth the fight. Lately, he hasn't been very good at transitioning to warmer weather clothes. And who can blame him with it changing every day or so?

Good for you for not squelching her individuality!! Who knows, maybe the look will catch on.

Lovin' the pig-braid...

That is SO funny! When I got Rylee's school pic's back this year she had one side piggy and the other one was completely down. I asked my husband "Why would they take her picture that way and not at least take out the other piggy?" His answer: They are probably wondering why you would send her to school looking like that instead of just giving her two piggys.

You could always hope that they just assume she took out the other braid on the way to school??

She just cracks me up!!! I love it. Thanks for amusing all of us with your daughter's dress and hair antics. :o)

You just have no idea how your daughter makes me smile!!! Go Miss Tongginator with ya bad self :) Happy Mother's Day TM!

I bet her teachers think you are a great mom who knows there are most important things to argue about than hair.

KiT said...

I LOVE it! If my hair were longer, I might try that style myself. ;)

Love the Hair.... I think it works great!

My girls pick where they want the pony tails and they have had some unique choices.

She really is her own person!
I'm sure that will take her far in life!

redmaryjanes said...

I must say that I love how you let her be herself. It would be so hard for me to let Sophia go to school like that, but it would be the right thing to do. I'll be her teachers think you are a cool mom.

I'm impressed at your ability to pick your battles! I bet her teacher was too.

Also.. "Pig-Braid" is an awesome name for a hairstyle.
