I Wonder: What Was I Thinking?

So... the Queen B wished for me a ridiculous sixth photo in my sixth folder. As much as I adore her, I planned to ignore her tag (sorry, Queen B), but then I checked. And - like her - I couldn't NOT post it. It even met the photo rules of Our Little Tongginator, although y'all will have to suffer through looking at my college freshman fifteen junior ten backside.

To set the stage... let's just say that my Gag Gift obsession began early. Someone took this photo at my university newspaper staff's Christmas party. I gifted my dear friend and pseudo-roommate CB with a little gift. (And by pseudo-roommate, I mean she lived in the apartment across the hall from me, but I practically lived there, too.)

Well, my little gift to CB became the hit of the party.

Yes, that is my Huge Rear draped in red plaid. And no, I
never attended parochial school, so I am unable to explain
said plaid. I have no excuse, except perhaps that it was 1995.

Can you see the shock on CB's face? And the laughter all around her? I am digging into the box to pull it out for all to see. Because CB didn't want to show the world what I purchased. Which I cannot understand at all. I mean, I gifted her with something she'd been talking about all semester. She SAID she wanted one. I KNEW it was on her list. And then she wouldn't pull it out of the box. Talk about ingratitude.

I mean - seriously - a Wonderbra is a GREAT gift, isn't it?

Ahahahaha!! LOVING the plaid, TM!!
And the wonderbra? Heck yeah! Only a TRUE friend would give the gift that keeps on giving :)

*snort*

I think I can beat you on that one though...

A good friend of mine and I decided to get a Playboy for a guy we knew...except we bought both a Playboy and a Playgirl and changed the covers. He took it out in the middle of the hallway in high school and well, let's just say it wasn't what he thought the centrefold would be. ;)

LOL! That is hilarious!

I have one too. My sister and best friend gave me extra, extra large granny panties and an extra, extra large bra at my bridal shower. They said I would need them after I had been married a while. Nice, huh? (How did they know? J/K!)

Gag gifts are great! Big T's family does this all the time. Last Christmas it was the first time T&T were there as "adults". That means that they each get just one gift and they give a gift. Names are chosen at Thanksgiving and the limit is just 20 bucks. When people meet T's fiancee they quickly learn that she has an obsession with ketchup. As gifts were being handed out she ended up with 4 different ones that were numbered. The first one had some ketchup packets in it. The second one had a framed picture of ketchup packets, the third had..you guessed it...a huge bottle of ketchup and finally the fourth one had her real gift! I warned her at Thanksgiving that my BIL had her name and to be very weary!!

Hugs,
Carla

I'm guessing Christmas gift exchanges in your family are very "interesting."

And, yes, only the best of friends would be thoughtful enough to give a Wonderbra. She should have been more grateful! Ha!

Blessings!

That's perfect! I once gave away an impression of my teeth (pre braces I think!) in a White Elephant gift exchange. In fact, Raising Boys' husband may havet those!

It is! I'd take it! I need all the help I can get.

I think I had the same plaid skirt. Don't feel bad. 1995 did it to all of us.

A wonderbra!! Too funny! That explains the redness of her face! Poor girl. I love gag gifts and trading them back & forth.

A wonderbra is a great gift but that skirt is even better! Don't you love finding photos of yourself just rocking the fashion world:)

Oh, you really crack me up. I actually went through a plaid skirt phase too, but have never had a good enough friend to gift me with the Wonderbra! Hilarious!

Thank you for playing.

That skirt is the best thing I've seen in a while. I'm kind of curious as to what is on the front of your shirt, though...

Excellent gag gifting, by the way.

I like that guy's face on the left.... but not more than I'm diggin' that red plaid skirt. I think we need to have a new blogger tag, "I'll show you my 1990s look if you show me yours." LOL

A wonderbra is a fabulous gift. It lifts you up when you are saggin down. There is nothing finer!

Oh - I thought it was something MUCH worse! Now my parents gave the 3rd girl (out of 5) in our family her first bra for Christmas - and if my memory serves me correctly my older brothers hung it on the Christmas Tree. Now THAT is just WRONG!
But - does make us all laugh LOUD when the story is retold.

Oh I was more into plaid flannel in 1995 - GRUNGE you know - especially when mom ironed my jeans and t-shirts - MOM!

Shot I would have been putting that sucker on, sometimes you need all the help you can get. :)

Hilarious! You are forgiven the plaid if I'm forgiven the white hose.

well aren't YOU quite the gift-giver! :) i love it!

My husband is the king of gag gifts. People know to avoid his gift during the office exchange. One year he got a snowglobe and put a picture of himself in it. The lady who picked his gift wasn't too thrilled.

btw, I had plaid leggings back in the day. Seriously, what was I thinking?

CC said...

Oh boy. Don't ever give me a gift. Okay? Except maybe a Christmas card. ;)

Who wouldn't love a wonderbra!! Everyone can use a little lifting up....right!!

As for the plaid.....I am thinking I probably had a couple of plaid pieces in 1995 too!!

Well, I had a skirt quite similar with black piping. Used to wear it with black tights and a black turtleneck. Quite fetching for 1995! Paired it with some square-toed block-healed shoes. All the rage!

I went the plaid skirt route too. In fact, I actually still have a plaid skirt in my closet. Does that say something about my fashion sense? Probably!
