TMI About TM

A little over one year ago (January 19, 2008 to be exact), I decided that the world Absolutely And Completely Needed To Hear What I Have To Say.

Ha! Actually, what really happened is that the husband began working long hours again and I felt my brain slowly oozing out of my ears because the Tongginator spent the majority of each day slamming a jackhammer into my head. Or at least that's what it felt like.

But of course I'm not melodramatic at all.

Anyways, I've been doing this blogging thing for a year now. And many of you don't understand my whole Super Secret Identity thing. I've tried to explain to y'all that it's because my former high school pseudo-boyfriend is now... shh... a spy, but most of you don't believe me. (Heck, even I don't believe me, although the whole machete thing is 100% true.) So... in the interest of building trust with you, my imaginary friends, I've decided to open up Our Little Tongginator for a bloggy game I like to call "Ask Tonggu Momma." You can totally ask me anything.

And I'll probably answer you.

If you ever wondered about my Real Name... I won't tell you. Or the exact location of my house... I won't tell you. Or the name of the husband's company, which we've nicknamed The Borg... again, I won't tell you. But if you feel a burning desire to learn why I hate Barbies or how often I clip my toenails, now is definitely the time to ask.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Okay, well. Hmm... Now's the time to pull out all the stops. The agency we all know and love referred just two days of LIDs, y'all. If you don't understand what that means, just realize that MythicalBabyInChina just got a little more mythical. Some days I feel like this adoption wait will never end. In fact, it did end for our LID buddies Kookaburra and GumTree. They switched to the domestic program this week - they've left the China line and are hoping to adopt from the United States. And I'm so happy for them!

I AM! I am HAPPY!

I really am, Kookaburra. (She lurks here. Kinda like Lurch from The Munsters.) I am thrilled for them, but I'm still letting go of the dream. I imagined our girls playing together all of their lives... cribmates in China and friends in our hometown. To quote Heather, I was a bit of a sappy sapperton about it.

And I am so NOT a sap.

At least, I didn't used to be. But of course this whole process makes everyone a tad INSANE. I'm sure y'all have noticed that lately I've lost my wit... my sarcasm... my sparkly personality. I've become a bit of a whiner. So help me get back my bite, y'all. Ask me some questions. Please.

Just don't ask my name.

So basically, what your saying is if Darling Daughter wants to adopt a child from China when she's grown, she'd better get started on the process NOW?? I'm sorry it's taking such a long time. I don't really understand the whole international adoption process, but I can understand the agony of waiting. Our prayers are with you!

You grew up with in a military family, so I'm assuming you moved around a lot as a child? How do you think it shaped your personality? Do you feel like you make friends more easily? Do you jump right into situations or hang back? Because, except for four years in Texas, I have lived in the same community forever. My kids go to school with the children of the kids I went to school with. I've always wondered about people who got to experience more of the world as kids. What was it like?

OK, I know, it got long. Answer whatever you want to! :)

What else do you like to do besides blogging and being a great mom?

Here is one....not too exciting, and given the time that we still have to wait(an eternity, I know)you probably have not even thought about it....

What is the name you are going to use on your blog to represent your next baby?

If you don't have an answer...this might be a fun post topic.

Have a great weekend!!

Okay, I can't resist getting in on this one.... I fear if I wait too long to get my burning question in, the line will be a mile long.
Soooo, what question to ask?? Whaaattt question. The excitement of the moment has caused all thoughts to cease...
'Kay, here are some good 'uns ;)
What did you want to be when you grew up?
What kind of car do you drive?
How did you meet TH?
How did you get so stinkin' funny? And so stinkin' SMART? Were you a geek in high school? What'd you get on your SAT's?
You DID say we could ask anything besides your name...
You might have covered some of these already in your posts, but please refer to my above blanket statement about my mind not quite working properly.
This is FUN! :)

Yes two days. It is enough to turn us all into saps.

I just want to know where you get all of your energy to be so funny!
All and I mean all of your posts are so engaging and humorous.
How do you do it?
Where does all the energy come from?
Any good secrets? Vitamin water, caffine- I'll try anything. :)

So....what's your real name? eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! *wink*

No, serioulsy, The Tongginator has beautiful hair. I don't think Little T will EVER have that. Do you put her hair up in any "special" styles? (Yeah, I know - really dumb question but it's early and I'm "working")

Big T does NOT like me putting anything on our blog about our house, like when I posted the picture of our torn up bathroom. How does TH feel about you blogging and sharingyour life with the world?

Hugs,
Carla

You haven't seemed whiny. A sappy sapperton is a really good thing though, so you can be that. Because sometimes it just helps.

I'm sorry it's such a ridiculous process. I'm sorry the wait is so long. These are the kinds of things that just SHOULD make more sense. So yeah, I'm sorry.

I will ask my question now:
If you could meet me...oh wait, this isn't about me. :)

My real question is, let's say you believed you could write a book (because you totally could), what would it be about? Fiction? Non-fiction? A memoir? A joke book? Politics? (Ha, that last one made me laugh to myself)

There you go. Answer away!

I can't remember if you've posted about this or not:
Why did you decide to adopt from China and not somewhere else (cough, cough, Korea)?
When am I going to get my Christmas card from you?
When are you moving out west?
Smiles! ;)

What are your top 3 favorite books about China? They don't have to be adoption related. Give this careful thought--I am ready to buy some good reads and I trust you!

happygeek said...

IF you could (in a polite southern way) completely embarrass anyone who would it be and why?

K-mart, Target or Wal-mart?

What is the strangest thing you have ever done?

What do you think about hugging?

If you had never married TD, who would your celebrity spouse have been? Why?

Why are there 12 wieners in the hot dog packs and only 8 in the bun packs?

Favorite place to watch the sunset?

What's your favorite imaginary response to people who ask rude and inappropriate questions about the adoption.

If you answer all of these, you are truly saint-y. Just think of these as a story starter. Pick your fave. Or none at all:)

SOOOOOOO terribly sorry about the news from our favorite foreign agency. Lots of hugs.

Gail said...

I had to laugh at this post because I'm going to open up my blog for questions too next week.

Hmmm...you've gotten some great questions. Where did you grow up? I'm thinkin' somewhere in the South because of the y'all.

Why did you decide to adopt in the first place? And why China?

Wish I could think of more, but I have a 3 year old systematically destroying the family room...

Laura L. said...

I'm getting a kick out of all of these comments and the questions. You've all made me smile.

TM, I can't wait to see what your response is to ALL of these. AND...we do expect you to answer them all. Just kidding.

By the way, if our wait for our China adoption had been as long as yours is, I'd have completely lost my marbles.

Why DO you hate Barbies anyway??

Colleen said...

Yeah questions!!! Ok ok let me see...thinking.....I have serious brain mush.
You crack me up...so where you the class clown or the teachers pet?

What's your favorite type of music and do you have a favorite artist?

That's all I can think of for now but I will probably come up with something at 2:00 AM and have to come back and write it down before I forget ; P

I'm so sorry the adoption process is so frustrating!

I'd like to know if you grew up back East or if you moved there. How do you think it differs from the Western US (I grew up in Idaho, so Virginia was a whole new world in some respects.)

The Byrd's Nest said...

I love it that you are mysterious...as you know...I am not! lol

I am so sorry about this horrible wait. I am also so out of the loop from not adopting again but a friend of mine told me that the March LIDS are huge! Yuck!

Janet said...

I am so sorry about the wait, TM. It sucks. I couldn't believe it was only 2 days, after the rumours and all the excitement. I am ALWAYS a sappy saperton. I truly am.

Anyway....questions? Hmmmm.....let's see.....

1) Do you chew gum? What's your favourite brand?

2) What's your FAVOURITE thing to do when you have a night to yourself? (if you ever do....)

3) What would you say you learned the most about life from your friend Rosie?

4) WHEN will you come to Canada to visit me?

Happy Bloggy Anniversary!
Questions:
1. Sweet or salty?
2. Winter or Summer?
3. Hugs or kisses?
4. Chocolate ice cream or Vanilla?
5. Rachael or Monica?

I like Happy Geek's questions......

Hmmm...what I want to know is HOW are you going to celebrate when MeiMei makes her grand entrance? Out to Chinese at your favorite restaurant? Banners all over the house? An impromptu baby shower?

Secondly, when you go to pick her up - what souveniers will you bring home? Is there anything that you'll pick up for the Tongginator that you wished you'd picked up the first time? (Around this time of year, I always wish I had New Years clothes that fit BBJ! I wish I had picked up clothes in a few sizes, so she'd be covered for a few years!)

Hi TM,
Congratulations on your 1 year Blogiversary! I am just one of many who are glad you decided to enter the world of Blog.

I can't begin to imagine what this wait must feel like for you and others that have been waiting for what must feel like forever. I just can't. I do hope and pray for you, though.

My questions... Have you seen your babysitter since your most embarrassing moment?

How do you keep up with blogging and all of the reading required for your Sunday links posts? Does this cut into valuable laundry time? lol

On a more serious note.. You have said that you and T are polar opposites on the spectrum of SPD. I would love to learn more about this, such as examples and how you were able to cope and adapt.

I hope you have a great weekend, TM!

How do you ever meet any of your blogging buddies being as mysterious as you are? the wait sucks!! How far into it are you?

Well, being late (as usual) to blog catching up, all my questions have been asked. So, I will just wait for the answers! Oh, and it's so nice to 'meet' another Barbie hater. I've already warned everyone we know that NO barbies are to come into this house. We have the WS Barbie, but she's hidden away. I still am not sure what to do with her.

Man, I wish we could ask you were you live ... if we were neighbors, that would so rock. :)

Cheers, Kiy

I don't have any questions for you. I do have to say that I have been feeling really down lately and it's not due to waiting for my next child - so perhaps it's just a little in the air being mid-winter and all.
I know you're sad about your friends dropping off the China list, but you can spin it positive - if enough people do, you'll reach your child sooner. That's really bitter sweet, but I'm trying to find anything to make the wait seem bearable!

What is the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you, prior to becoming a mother, and then after becoming a mother (in case the answer differs)?

If you were to write a book, and could pick any famous author to give the book a blurb for the front cover, who would it be?

If you could fly or be invisible, which would you choose and how would you use this power?

Jennifer said...

First, I just want to say, thanks for being a stalker and finding my blog through Scribbit's Write-Away contest.

Second, everyone already took my questions. But I am particularly interested in knowing why China?

Debz said...

What was by far your most embarassing moment? I ask cause I know you can find the funny in everything....don't let me down now!

And will you come over to my blog and accept your award?

Oooooh....darn it! Just one day too late to get in on the TM info madness sale....shoot! Love the Ferris Bueller shoutout though...well, I guess my question would have been....have you always had such a knack for the nickname? Or did your buddies choose their names? Because I love them. But I could never keep them all straight if I were you. :)

If I'm too late you can ignore this, but I have a really burning question. WHY can I remember stuff like the name of my Grade 4 teacher or how embarrassed I was at Lori Beitzel's fart jokes, but I can't remember French conjugation or the Arabic alphabet? I need the latter knowledge now; I would happily forget Lori and Mrs Boender. WHY????

Please answer. I often feel quite desperate.

Oh one more: What's the capital of North Dakota?

Soliloquy said...

How many children are you planning to adopt? Is there a plan?

And have you requested a child from the same province as the Tongginator?

Misty said...

fashionably late am i... i won't add more questions to the fodder since so many have been asked, but i'm glad you blog and that i found you! HUGS! sorry about the waiting... i cannot relate but my heart hurts for you and your TH.

First, I cannot believe you've only been blogging for a year! So glad you found me ;)

Here's my question...
If you could meet ANYONE (dead or alive) who would it be & why?

Quirky Mom said...

I keep coming up with silly questions, rejecting them, and then coming up with more rejects. So I'll finally just ask one.

If the Tongginator is a butterfly, what are you?
