LID-versary, Part 31

I let my monthly LID-versary slip past yesterday, but for a good cause. Today is Special K's day, since she logged in to adopt from China just 24 hours after the husband and I did. I wanted to give her a little gift this month. (Now... don't get too excited, Special K. It's not a penguin.)

Actually, this pseudo-gift will show everyone the depths of my pathetic-ness. The very fact that I felt too depressed to search for an actual word, instead inventing the term pathetic-ness, should tell you something. So really... it's a gift I made for myself. Because I am selfish like that. And pathetic. But I am also sharing it with Special K. Even though SHE of course is NOT pathetic. Nor selfish.

Behold my to-do list for the second half of our wait:

click to see a MUCH larger view

I realize a ton of contradictions exist in my little sign. Things like "fine whine" and "it is what is is" don't typically go well together. But this wait has so many ups and downs, we need a broad range of tasks. Then there are the to-do items that just seem laughable because I said them. "Pie fixes everything" seems to fit me well, as does "I was promised there would be no math involved," but "hit the gym?" Not so much. I figured I'd better post this list now - during the first month of the year - so that I can excuse all of my failures as broken resolutions.

I did include several to-do list items with Special K solely in mind. They are:

which is so not how I would ever talk because I am decidedly uncool and un-hip. And I of course felt obligated to include a nod to those penguins she loves:

"Just smile and wave, boys." (Guess the movie, y'all. Hint: some penguins said it.)

And if you feel especially pathetic this month, then you, too, may join us me in our my wallowing. Print out my little to-do list artwork and ride the roller coaster of tasks. Hope and cope... pray and play... save and wave.

Happy 31 months, Special K. May we be most of the way there.

Thinking of you!

I sat here thinking about what I could say to help you smile and wave, but really, there's nothing. Yeah, I could say all the bs cliches - the wait is worth it - you'll forget about this rollercoaster ride once you have her in your arms but those are just words and honestly, I don't think you'll ever forget this rollercoaster ride you are on!! I know that the 2 years (LID 5/30/06) we waited were so hard and even though Little T has been home almost 7 months now that rollercoaster ride is still fresh in my mind.

So - no words - Just lots of hugs coming your way!! You guys are in our thoughts!!

Oh, I really related to your post! The waiting truly is a roller coaster, one that seems never ending at times. We've officially been "in the process" 27 months, which isn't even as long as you've been, and we're going a bit crazy! Thanks for the humor......every little bit helps:)

Oh I hate waiting!! We're still waiting for our house. It's not as bad, but it has its moments. Hang in there. I like your artwork. And, like Aunt Lolo, I like to move it move it!

YES JUST SMILE, WAVE AND HOLD ON........Special K. is waiting as you are.

What a great way to keep things in perspective. I so admire those waiting so long. I think you have reason to wallow, but more reasons to laugh and remain happy!

Don't wail too loud, you may set off an avalanche somewhere in the Rockies:))

Love you silly,

Ivy

Hey... mo more wallowing! We're done with that and moving on. I give you permission to feel sad sometimes... but only for a tiny little bit then I'm kicking your butt back to the positive side of things. (Yes.. I said "butt" you girl scout. Be glad that I cleaned it up that much. LOL!)

Think about it... we're on the downhill of this. I just know it! We're AT LEAST halfway there. AT LEAST ... but I think more. We've waited this long already so another 18 mths or so will be a Piece-Of-Cake. I could do that standing on my head. So could you. We're not rookies in this!

I'm excited again! Can't you feel it? Blog world is changing. The energy is coming back. March is about to start being referred. Bloggers we follow are seeing and meeting their babies. We're making progress here!

I've found my mojo... I've been cleaning, organizing, eating better. I even started organizing the junk room that will be the nursery. I'm on a roll, girl! Now we just need to find YOUR mojo!

Think about it like this... next year. NEXT year. I really think we'll get a referral NEXT year. In 2010. This is ALREADY 2009! Do you know how little time that is? Seriously!

Remember... glass half full. We're getting closer. Happy 31!

YOU ROCK. And I just got this huge canvas for painting, and you've given me a better idea, a better way to deal with this wait, which frankly has me so ... STAGNANT... in my life right now.

This is perfect. PERFECT.

Time to start doing some cutting and pasting.

cutting and pasting.

I have read your blog only a handful of times but I read Special K's as often as possible. When she said I had to come here and check it out, I did.

I must say, HOW VERY FREAKIN' COOL IS THAT!!! Our LID is 6 months to the day after yours and almost 6 months to the day behind the penguin lovers.

I need to do something like this and put it in my creative space/work room as a reminder that everything we're going through is there for a reason and so worth it in the end.
