Lessons in the New Year

1. Note to self... don't label a post "I Am An Idiot" if you previously set up your blog's comments to travel to your e-mail inbox. Because, y'all, there is nothing like reminder messages announcing said idiocy... oh, I don't know... nearly 40 times in one day.

2. Life is totally not fair... as evidenced by the Tongginator's ability to run a fever the morning of the first day of school after a two-week break. And thank goodness she spoke up, otherwise I might have carted her to school unaware, since I stood buried under a pile of tissues myself.

3. It pays to watch the news or read the paper, even when struck down with a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad cold... otherwise you just might sound like the previously mentioned idiot when your husband asks you, "so how do you feel about Israel beginning the war the week of Christmas?" and you reply "umm... what war?"

Tonggu Momma's New Year's Resolution - Stop acting like an idiot and pay attention to the world around you. And no, this site does not count. Even though it IS totally addictive.

So have you heard our Senator in MN is Al Franken? I will now start the process of trying not to think he is really Jack Handy. But that is more fun.

Hahahah...oh, the perils of blogging!!!

(Hope Miss T. feels better soon!!!)

PS - I realized last night that I get nearly ALL of my news from the blogs that I read, and Yahoo! and Google headlines.

Sad. Really, really sad...unless you want to keep abreast on all the latest Mommy fads! (Umm...war? I think I did see something about that...)

Get well. Both of you:)

Thanks for you comment on my blog! I was looking at your profile and saw you are interested in sensory integration. Our son was just diagnosed with sensory integration problems and I am starting to learn about it. We are starting OT this week and I am excited to have some resources to help me deal with this. It's all new to me! I just thought he had major behavior problems, it is helping me to understand he cannot control some of his "behaviors".

Why oh why did you have to post that little link to the addictive site?? I was cracking myself up and clicking away! LOL

Hi, this is Earth. Are you new here, too?

Travel pod was cool with me until it called me a dummy. Then, not so cool. (smirk)

Do I get bonus points for following the Hanukkah War?

I read the "idiot" post, but am replying to this one to keep from putting another "idiot" email in your box :)

trust me i've done stupid things like that too!

Cheri H said...

I too hope you both are feeling better soon. I must say that even though you are feeling under the weather you can still make me laugh. :)

I tell myself that I am an idiot nearly 40 times a day anyway. :-)

My sister is of the firm belief that news should never be watched or listened to. I, on the other hand, hate to have my head in teh sand. That being said, I didn't listen to the news much over Christmas and was surprised about the war too. Idiot.

PS- That was 41.

I am so clueless of what is going on in the world. If it is not on Foodnetwork, HGTV then I am clueless....

Hope you and the Tonggu feel better soon!

Work is blocking whatever that addictive site is, now I'm all intrigued over here! I actually decided that I will watch the news AT LEAST twice a week. So, I turned on both CNN and World News (NBC?) last night. That's how I found out about the war a week later myself.

And I have to say I went to bed utterly depressed.

Hope you 2 feel better soon.

kris said...

oh wait, i guess it's TWO weeks. yeah, call me an idiot too.

Jen said...

LOL! You are funny. I'll keep that in mind when I'm writing my posts. Luckily we have 10pm news that I'm still awake for that keeps me updated on the world around us otherwise I'd have no idea either.

Sorry to hear that you are all sick right now. Bri is still fighting this stupid ear infection. Ugh - I'm tired.

Surprisingly, I learned about the war somehow. Our TV is usually set to Disney Channel or Noggin.

That site is addictive! It may interfere with my Wii and PlayStation 3 practice.

Heather of the EO said...

I think I spent about three hours in a row on that site one day. I never went back. My addictive personality needs to stay far from such things!

GET WELL PEOPLE.

I pay attention to the world around me, unfortunately that world is full of Backyardigans and Wonder Pets ;)

Laugh!!

I hope you get well soon! I have a major news network pop up on my computer when i jump on-line. Most mornings the news is so depressing! Sometimes I enjoy being an idiot!

Thank you for NHBO. I spent hours reading family stories. They are sooo encouraging as this mountain is sooo big!

Have you ever heard of Enchinacea Goldenseal Root - sold at Target and other places. It is wonderful!!!! It will stop a cold so fast.

a Tonggu Momma said...

I am so, so glad that I'm not the only one existing in a PBS Kids and Nick, Jr. fog!

And Ashley, I'm so very glad that you've found the NHBO site so useful. In truth, I've done very little - the other ladies on the team are amazing!

And if you are reading this and don't know what site I'm talking about, check out the No Hands But Ours button on my sidebar. It's a great site!
