The Butterfly

Y'all, the Tongginator no longer exists. Because she is now - and says she forevermore will be - The Butterfly. I believe I mentioned the fluttering a few weeks ago. Lucky me, it still exists. In public on the east coast. In airports. In public on the west coast.

Even at her Grandpa Squeak's funeral.

Oh, yes, she is a-fluttering. She's also refusing to answer to the Tongginator. I spent the majority of her Grandfather's funeral introducing her to people as "The Butterfly, formerly known as the Tongginator." And I don't use the word "The" lightly. She is not simply Butterfly, but THE Butterfly.

You think I jest. Alas, I do not.

Just ask the husband. Goodness, just ask CC. Or even CC's husband, Professor X, who so kindly introduced additional vocabulary into The Butterfly's repertoire. Because not only do I have to remember - at all times - to refer to her bed as a flower, I now must use the word nectar when talking about her juice. Courtesy of CC's husband.

Thanks, Professor X. You are oh-so-kind.

But we love you anyway.

Even though the Tongginator's new teacher might possibly find her crazy. Or annoying. Or annoyingly crazy. And I am concerned that the resurgence of her pigtails might have been the catalyst for her recent Butterfly Tendencies.

Tell me the truth, y'all. Do her pigtails look like wings? Or antennae?

For shame... you should be focusing on the pigtails. The PIGTAILS, y'all. Not the little bit of real estate we are standing near. I know, I know, it's Twilight Goodness and all, but I'm asking you to focus on the pigtails, please. Do they look like wings? Or antennae?

Hello? Y'all?

Please tell me - is The Butterfly my fault? Do you think it's because of the pigtails? The Tongginator thinks they are her antennae.

Hello? I lost you at Twilight, didn't I?

Every funeral needs a butterfly!
And those pigtails--perfect antennae!

PIPO said...

Those tails look like wings to me...they would be limp antennae after all ;0)

And, I am so out of the loop that when it was first mentioned "it's twilight" I thought - 'looks like the middle of the day to me'.

I never would have recognized it...call me clueless ;0)

Jennifer said...

I think the pigtails def look like antennae... and PIPO took the words out of my hands about Twilight. I had no clue what you were talking about at first!

Haven't seen the movie. I was looking at the cutie with the pigtails.

Love the pigtails - my 3 boys wouldn't let me do that with their hair. Can you say "therapy" if I did?HeeHee

The pigtails are back!! I know a couple months ago you said she was not digging the pigtails!

I think they look more like wings...to resemble antennae, I think they need to be higher.....just my opinion....and after hearing that her juice must now be reffered to as nector....you might not want to share this little tidbit with T or she will be asking for High Pigtails!!

She is a butterfly, cause she is transitioning into an older wiser young girl. Butterfly is a beautiful name!

(No I dont think the pigtails had anything to do with it!)

I think they look like antennae. And 2 very cute ones.
Haven't seen the movie, my movie watching consists of assorted Disney features, Thomas, etc. lately.

I think the pigtails look more like wings.

I love pigtails, or "piggies" as my daughters used to call them. It's sad when they outgrow them ...

I'm voting wings! But since my blog is Roots & Wings, I'm probably biased. Oh, and I love butterflies. During and since my miscarriage, I see them everywhere, even in very unusual places. But then my husband "accuses me" of seeing God everyhwere, so there ya go! :)
Great blog, what a wonderful ministry you have!! Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season-
Tabitha

They are definately wings...beautiful butterfly wings. I love it!

Before I saw the picture, I was going to go with antennae, but I agree with HGHG: to be antennae, they'd have to be higher up on the head.

(And - sadly - you didn't lose me on the Twilight stuff. The author lives in the next town over from us; it's been Twilight mania around here for a looooog time.)

Aunt LoLo said...

Hmm...where they are now? I'd say wings that need a good sprint to get them flapping!

Move them up a bit and you'll have what I used to affectionately refer to as "puppy dog ears"...or limp antennae. ;-)

Patricia/NYC said...

Wings....definitely wings...and I agree with some others, I also thought, "twilight? looks like daytime to me"...sigh...I gotta get out more...

Muthering Heights said...

That is too funny! A butterfly phase might not be so bad...butterflies are nice and quiet, right?

Patty O. said...

That made me laugh out loud. I love the nectar! You're lucky she is not calling her bed her chrysallis!! I'm with Muthering Heights--my son has been going through a barking dog phase, though he is not as consistent as the Butterfly. Still, when the mood hits him, he barks. And quite loudly too. Maybe he will keep away salesmen...

Well, I think the Tonginnator is a creative genius, and I think she should be called butterfly for the rest of her life. Or "Butter", for short. Hmmm.....maybe not......

Professor X is always glad to help. ;)

I'm currently writing a social story for a student that claims to be a "unicorn". Albeit a cute one, I'm sure.

And the Twilight comments were hysterical, although I still am not interested. Which is kinda funny after my Buffy obsession and all....

I love that after seeing the film I did not recognize the school. Yay me.

Does she ever say Flutterby? When I was little I often got that word backwards.

It's funny, I always pictured you with long curly hair.
Must confess, I have not read the books are seen the movie, so at first i was wondering what on earth you were talking about.
That's the geek, right up there with pop culture.

Twilight? ...is that a movie? I'm not allowed to watch scary movies. They ...ummm...scare me.

But the pigtails are a little like antennae...cute, little, swishy antennae.

OziMum said...

Ha! You know me too well.. yes, you lost me at twilight!!! I can't watch vampire-ish/horror movies! I'm such a scardey cat!!!

Oh yes... I see the butterfly-ness now!

LindaJ said...

Who doesn't want to be a butterfly? Love it! Hey, it's better then wanting to be one of those princess I love/hate so much.

As for the twilight thing...Being here in the Pacific Northwest, where the story began...Everyone here is a freak over it.

Haven't seen it yet, haven't read the book..I feel like a Twilight loser.

Briana's Mom said...

LOL! She is so funny! I think her pigtails look like wings myself.

Well, at least she isn't making you call her "your highness". Yet.

Carla said...

huh? what cutie in pigtails? Huh....ohhhh *SWOOON* that's THE high school....wonder if I can go watch it again....would anyone stare at me too crazily if I went alone? Hmmmm....would it be bad of me to re-read the book AGAIN?

OHHHH....that cute little girl in FRONT of the school....Wings. Definitely wings. Antenna would be further up on the head. ;)

looks like wings to me

Outta the loop - thought it might be the Enginerd's high school:)

I will read Twilight eventually. I have a 3 week break between classes when I plan to read Silent Tears and then perhaps start the series. My niece has read them all and is on her 10th time through the first one! I hope Amelia inherits her love of reading:)

I love the butterfly! It could be worse, she could have chosen a snake - slithering on the floor would not be good!

Peanut said...

Somehow I have managed to escape all the Twilight madness... so far anyways.

I agree with Sharie... there's a lot worse things she could be! I think a butterfly suits her personality perfectly!

My daughter has days where she is Deedee Doodle of the Doodlebops and will throw full temper tantrums if I forget to call her Deedee. I LOVE those days *rolls eyes*

Shellie said...

Ya know, they're doggy ears to me, but they work ok as antennae if she's trying to keep them low profile. How cute she wants to sleep in a flower and drink nectar!

Meredith Teagarden said...

Love the butterfly pigtails!

The Source said...

I had no idea where y'all were standing. I thought maybe you were taking her to school??

OK...wings don't grow on heads...do they? Her ponytails are antennae. Smart girl.

And trust me, it'll be ok. Darling Daughter only answered to "Jamie-Boy" around that age. And wore her brother's Batman underwear. And she turned out almost normal.

Becoming Me said...

OK---My daughter declared a few weeks ago that she is no longer a little girl but a Jaguar!

Kim said...

Now to make those pigtails into more perfect antenae, you really must move them more toward the top of her head. As they are, I can see wings for sure.

oh, and I really didn't need any Twilight teases. My rule of never seeing any movie until it has been in theaters at least two weeks because I hate a crowd is about to kill my daughter and I on this one. But what kind of mom would I be if I broke my own rule? ya, i know... probably a really cool mom.

I had to jump back to this post to tell you that the other night when getting ready for bed, my half-dressed junior Tongginator went fluttering across her bedroom saying, "I'm a bubber-ply!" I almost fell out of the rocking chair laughing. Thankfully, it hasn't stuck as a permanent condition around here.

Butterfly? Butterfly is great considering my son only went by Pineapple GoodBoy for a good 6 months...LOL

Jennifer said...

Antennae! Katie calls her pigtails bunny ears. She does not like the pitails anymore and says..."NO bunny ears Mommy!".

Just started reading TWIGHT.
