Beauty Mask

Go ahead and laugh now, y'all... if my first-attempt-in-fifteen-years-poem-that-morphed-into-a-limerick doesn't get you, the picture will. And please... no comments about my really high forehead. I've heard them all. I promise.

Mid-month Every Month at PENSIEVE
Want this button?

Unshaped, scraggly hairs do besiege my brow
Deep, dark pores detract from beauty’s visage
My memory of sweet youth so distant now
Aging gracefully no longer my pledge
Overwhelmed with tweezers, cleansers and masks
Tomboy lost amid this world of beauty
“Is all of this worth it?” my husband asks
I pause, then ponder “desire or duty?”
My face stiffens with the caked-on, green cold
Until I decide, “I’d rather look old!”

Darling...just DARLING! Mine is so doggone serious, I was craving funny and you provided that very thing. This might be your first poetic attempt in years, but it really shouldn't be your last! You've got a great sense of rhythm you need to harness, girlfriend!

Thanks for joining in...hope to see you again NEXT month (or before :) ).

I love it too! Mine is serious like Robin's. I think humor's harder to write, so BRAVO.

Baa ha ha ha! I love it! I totally agree with you, too. All this stuff designed to keep us young...it ain't worth it! Bring on the wrinkles.

Very Funny!

I think that is the most we have ever seen of you in a picture!!!

Have a great weekend!

Ugh...I remember using masks when I was in high school (before I realized that they WERE causing half my break outs! :-p) I thought they were great...but invariably ONE of my siblings would take it upon themselves to make me laugh...and the whole thing would crack. Ouch!

Love Rebecca's comment..."You crack me up." Has she ever WORN a mudmask?

I love how a $2 add water mask packet from Target can make up for the fact that I have never had a real facial.

Too funny.

Hey - is that book good? (Seriously.)

HONESTLY??? That's all we get of a glimpse of you?

Anyone ever told you you're a tease?

(Perhaps your BABYSITTER?)

((snort - oh my Lord, did I just say that OUT LOUD?))

Please. Don't hate me. I HAD to say it.

You are too funny! Feel like I am looking at "Wilson" from Home Improvement peeking over the fence! Have a great weekend!

ha-ha-ha! You're funny. Very cute poem. As for beauty masks, I'm not sure. Did any of the Ladies of Liberty Cookie Roberts wrote about use them? :-)

I care about how I look, but not like I did in my 20's. I figure when it was time to be hot, I was. Now it's time to be whatever I want and I don't feel like having my eyebrows done and wearing acrylics and babysitting everything I eat. I'm just hanging with myself now.

your eyes look like you are smiling behind the book.

LOL. That was just great! AND SO TRUE. IS it all worth it? What a pain! :)

OMW.....you are hilarious....I nearly spit my coffee out all over my computer.....of coarse SHOCKED....from the beauty that you radiate! ;)

how's the book? You look cute even behind all that other stuff. The way your eyes shine says the beauty is within you.
