Solid Gold

Did anyone else want to be Solid Gold dancers when they were younger?

Anyone at all?

Okay, then. Maybe it was just us.

For more seriously embarrassing childhood aspirations, check out Sincerely Fro Me To You at We Are That Family.

Oh we so would have been friends when we were kids!

You know the picture of me with all of my girl cousins at that family picnic last weekend....we all use to pretend we were solid gold dancers.

We stood on furniture and jumped around....we also tried to make "Costumes" to be more authentic! I need to go through my Mom's pics, I know she has one somewhere of all of us decked out....too funny!!

FYI...come to my blog, you got an award...hope you don't mind, I had to have a little fun with you...

I can hear it now "Solid Gold!".

I couldn't dance then and still can't. *sigh*

I TOTALLY wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer!! Sadly, I have no photographic evidence of it. :)

Oh I used to watch that every time it came on! I almost put a picture up of me doing a back bend today, but then I went in a completely different directions. :)

You both have on knee socks!! I love it. I watched Solid Gold all the time but the only person I knew who wanted to be a SG dancer is my sister in law . . . .we laugh so hard about it now.

Have you ever seen the Saturday Night Live skit about Solid Gold? It's only a couple of years old and has LeBron James in it. Look for it on YouTube. It's hilarious - and clean!

Geesh! My sister and her friends drove us nuts making up dances and forcing us to watch. Apparently that was a nation-wide hobby back then? She was also a Donnie & Marie freak. I was much cooler...I liked the New Mickey Mouse Club.

Love this post!

P.S. He loves you... said...

Me...I love that show!

Solid Gold yes!! My accomplice was our next door neighbor Amy. We danced for hours to Abracadabra (steve miller band). Even now, hearing "black panties" in that song makes me bust out into uncontrollable laughter.

Oh yeah, I too would dress up and dance around the house along with Dione Worwick (probably spelled it wrong) and Rex! Boy, I feel old now.

Great photo's. I used to make up dances to all sorts of stuff...but only when nobody was looking, especially looking with a camera!

I SO wanted to be a Solid Gold Dancer. Complete with knee socks, a half-slip as a mini skirt, and all the moves...in front of a mirror. Great memories. Thankfully, no pictures.

I distinctly remember having a dance routine to the Bangles. Until my friends mother threw the record at her brother and broke it. There went our routine!

Cute pictures!

Oh no, it wasn't just you! I just knew that I could never been one. A person needs rhythm for that & sadly, I am lacking in that department.

Loved the pics! You totally could have been on Solid Gold!

I can't say that I know the show you are talking about (I lived in the other hemisphere remember) but just wanted to tell you that yep, we are meant to know each other... all through the joys of cricket cheerping... hehehe

Oh I always wanted to be Olivia Newton John - with leg warmers! This brought back memories!

I LOVED Solid Gold, but I loved when they rolled the credits at the end of the show even more. There was a SG dancer that had my name (first and last) and I would watch the credits and just think I was some superstar. I was like 10, after all.

I wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer so badly! My bff and I created interpretive dances to many, many 80s hits!

I'm so glad I met you later in life. Does your sis still own those blue socks? I think your dad still owns that couch though. Show him this photo and perhaps the Tongginator's grammy will finally get her new furniture?
