Daily Bread?

Y'all, the Tongginator recently learned a new prayer song in preschool. Somehow, though, I don't think she quite has the words down.

Thank the brown cow for the chocolate milk.
Thank the pig -- oink, oink -- for the bacon on the grill.
Thank the chicken for the egg and the egg for the chicken.
And God for daily dead.
Amen.

Yes, y'all. Let's thank God for the daily DEAD. Because, I mean, who isn't grateful for the daily dead? Not me! I love the daily dead. God provides for all of our needs... including the daily dead.

And yes, I've tried to correct the Tongginator. Call me a know-it-all... call me crazy... but I'm fairly certain that it's actually "daily bread." Then again, maybe that's just me because the Tongginator is absolutely adamant that SheIsRightAndIAmWrong.

The Tongginator, being the Tongginator, prefers to stick with her her own lyrics. Why am I not surprised?

daily dead? tee hee. Even funnier that she probably doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.

I love the children's blessing that goes like this:
God is great. God is good.
LETTUCE thank him for our food.

To be honest, our lettuce isn't that reverent - is yours? As far as I can tell the lettuce on our plates isn't thankful at all. It just lies there.

Ha ha ha!! Well, if we're all eating the chocolate milk, bacon and eggs on a daily basis we WILL be the daily dead from the clogged arteries. SO technically, she's right.

She cracks me up! My daughter is 15 and still sings her own words to everything. Her older brother loves to hear her burst into song because it's always a good laugh to see what she'll sing. I've had her hearing tested. She KNOWS the words, she just wants it her way.

I have to say - I find her 'lyrics' quite catchy.

Daily dead! She'd get along swell with my Girl, who LOVES the scary old "IF I SHOULD DIE" prayers.

At least she's saying her prayers, though she put a creepy little spin on it.

The daily dead....that is a new one!!

She is too funny...

Didn't you know, they are never wrong and we are never right? These are the rules in the half gaelic, half garlic house:)

The T is so funny. I love hearing kids mix up the lyrics of a song.

It reminds me of Phoebe on Friends, when she sang the lyrics to Elton John's Tiny Dancy, "Hold me closer, Tony Danza." Or when I used to think Aerosmith's Dude Looks Like a Lady was Do the Funky Lady. But, your T gets an award for the daily dead.

my glenys said the uncle in Lion King was Scott. Then she argued with me when I tried to correct her! 4 year olds are so smart!! I guess though I am the dumb arse for actually arguing back, heh!

That's AWESOME. One of my (Catholic) friends used to hear this prayer in the cafeteria before lunch - "Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub. Yea GOD!"

Sarah STILL prays, "Howled be Thy name", which doesn't really have a good ring to it......

I love it when kids get words mixed up-always makes me laugh.

I think you should give it up on winning the debate-sounds like your little Tongginator is not going to budge on this issue =).

could you ask the tongginator a question for me? i'd like to know if the "daily dead" is anything like the "living dead." you know, the bit about receiving new life, etc....

That is hysterical!! Anna Grace is currently messing up the "Glory Gloria" that we sing at Mass. She says, "Holey Moley-a" each time. :-) Kids are too funny!

I don't know which is funnier...the daily dead or the CD skipping!

She certainly keeps you on your toes (and knows how to put you in your place if you have audacity to think there is any way possible that she could have made a mistake!)...TOO FUNNY!!!...she and my always right six year old daughter would get along great together!
