春分: Spring Equinox

Today marks the start of China's fourth solar term, 春分 (chunfen), also known as the spring equinox. In Mandarin, chunfen literally translates as "spring division." While the spring equinox marks the first day of spring in western culture, it delineates the middle of spring in Chinese culture. In China, spring begins each year on February 4 (brr!!!) and ends on May 5; March 20 falls half-way between these two dates.

Happy Equinox! Oh my goodness, this means Easter is THIS WEEKEND, since Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the March equinox. I'd better get hopping ~

Perhaps that was too corny a pun.

Do you forgive me?
